I had this on my 79 Grandprix & it was the rubber seal & check valve on the booster. It did the exact same thing, hissing noise. After changing the seal & check valve all was normal.

I'm looking for some help. I have a 1979 Pontiac Grandprix SJ. It has a custom/sport steering wheel.
The service manual says to remove the ornament in the center of the steering wheel to access the retaining nut.

Welcome from Brampton Ontario. Beautiful car. Looks like it"s been well kept & preserved over the years. I am. also a GrandPrix owner. I have a 1979 SJ.
Have you ever though about adjustable coil overs. I installed a set on my grand prix, front and rear. you can adjust the ride height where ever you want it to give your car that killer look. On mine I get a very nice comfortable ride, but is nice and tight if you want to go to the track.
Yes I also like the Pontiac GrandPrix SJ model. Mine is mostly original. Pontiac always had the best interiors. Mine is Black on black. Black landau roof, Black leather interior with viscount bucket seats. Whats not to like. Still have the original 301, & THM 200 transmission.
