Anyone can go out and buy a car, someone who builds one has more character in my book.

My 1983 Regal *10/13/08* The car is Gone! Pix!

I also agree that is better to see someone make a car their own rather than let it go to the junk yard. So thumbs up there, I guess it's the sterotype that a lot of people who do the slammin and baggin. Everyone knows what I am talking about, some people just don't want to say it. Don't take...

    skirt coated pistons

I use forgings in a street motor. Granted its more of a weekend strip car, but if I want to put the juice to it I know it can handle it.

    skirt coated pistons

I don't think I would trust hypereutectic pistons..... Too many horror stories when they really started becoming popular. I will stick with my forged speed pros.

    Rear Tires and Wheels?

I had the same issue with 275's on my malibu. Straight lines weren't a problem but anytime the rearend dropped on either side the inside sidewall would rub the frame. I run 255's for now, plan on putting 10" et streets on it when I get my 12 bolt installed.

    researching rear end help

??? GU6 is the axle code what are the next three? That will tell you what manufacturer.....Google! The rear axle ratio, differential type, manufacturer, and build dateinformation is stamped on the right axle tube (as viewed from the front of the car) on the forward side... a real b*tch to...

    oil leak on new motor

A high volume oil pump is kind of a bad thing with a stock pan.... It will depend on your rpms but hv pumps tend to suck the pan dry. I have a 7 qt system with a baffled pan with a windage tray and crank scraper on my 406 and I run a tweaked stock pump. I hold about 20 psi hot at idle...

    Spring/Shock setup???

I am planning on buying the Moroso trick rear springs 475200 and the competition engineering 3 way shocks 2720 rears and 2600 fronts. Anyone running a similar setup? I am planning on low 8's possibly a 7 second pass in the 1/8..... If anyone as any pics of their car with the moroso rear...

    Rear Tires and Wheels?

A 7.5" 10 bolt won't hold up under 12.5" slicks. I think the biggest tire you can get away with on a stock rear wheel wheel is a 27 or 28x10.5 if your car sits high enough. You will probally have to cut or roll the rear fender lip to keep from getting into the sidewall on a 10 inch tire. I am...

I want to build a 400 small block

Doesn't look like you will have much strength in those rear frame rails. It also seems like a lot of work for limited results. I am pretty sure I can get a 10" et street under the stock wells in my malibu, that should be enough bite for my setup. If you go to cutting the rails I would narrow...

I want to build a 400 small block

I put the et in my post, I can't remember the mph.... I will have to dig through my receipt box and find the slips from the first time with the new motor. I will have some more current slips this spring after I get some tires and my new rear end. As for mileage.... I have no clue, it's...
