How many of the flex plate bolts do I need to order to go with the spacer for a 5.3/th400 combo? Or am I replacing all the original bolts with the new longer ones? Also, does the spacer go between the converter and the flex plate, or between the flex plate and the crank?

Lol Ok glad I'm not the only one. I got it to fit. I took a reem to each hole and re-tightened the bottom of the mounts. 3 guys, 2 big pry bars and 1 BF hammer, it fits. Hope I don't have to take it out anytime soon.

Anyone? Am I the only one with this problem?

Ok quick rundown. I'm swapping a 5.3 into a '78 Malibu. I'm using Trans Dapt 1" setback plates, factory Malibu motor mounts and the factory Malibu V8 pads are still bolted to the frame side. The drivers side is lined up and the bolt is in. This is the passengers side mount. Pic is looking from...

Welcome! Wilmington here. I actually saw that Malibu on Craigslist and thought heavily about it before I bought the one I have now. Lol

The truck pan is 8" from where it bolts to the block to the sump. How deep is the muscle car pan or the "Hummer" pan at the sump?

I've seen them, very nice especially when they're hydrodipped. But are they holding up well to boost being shaved?

Do I need to use a th400 stall converter or is there a special converter made for LSx - th400? Edit: I found out you can use a stall converter made for a th400. Nothing special.

Ok I got you. But my car had a 700r4 so is that as long as a short shaft th400?

Out with the old. The new is sitting beside the tool box. Waiting for a cam swap and in goes the new.

So what is everyone using as far as a driveshaft goes? Does a stock Malibu driveshaft fit right in or will I need to get a longer or shorter one? I'm using a 5.3 with 1" setback plates and a short tailshaft th400 and a stock Gbody 10 bolt.

I'm pretty sure the 4L80e is bigger than the th400, but I'll look into that. I have them both in my shop so I'll just measure them both. I'm going FI. 4L60e, if built, usually only hold around 600hp. I'm looking to go far beyond that so I need a trans that's going to hold the abuse I'm going to...
