I want to try a manual valve body in one of my projects. I have the choice between engine braking and non engine braking. Which one would be better for street use and why?

They have their good and bad. If you have engine braking, downshifting the trans at too high an rpm will try to throw you through the windshield. It does help if you do like road racing or something with going down hills and you want the engine to help slow you down. If you are cognizant of rpm and try not to downshift it above 1500-2000 rpm it is ok on the street.

Thanks for the info, so would you say the engine braking is better for street use vs non engine braking? I was told non engine braking was for strip use.

Your TC stall plays into engine braking as well, a lower stall is going to grap harder than a higher stall will.

And yeah you can do compression skids with it as well🫣🤣
Yes this is another factor to engine braking, if the converter is really loose, you won't see a drastic effect and why it doesn't really help drag cars.

Is it also reverse pattern?

I have one complaint with reverse manual valve bodies. On a deep geared car with no overdrive. At the end of a quarter mile run. You are at redline in high gear.
You are stuck there with the engine at max rpm until you slow down. No option to shift into neutral.
