BUILD THREAD '78 Cutlass Supreme Lichen Edition

Done with the sound deadening. I found my rear windshield was not bonded in the center along the bottom so I jammed some butyl rope in there. I'll have that professionally redone if it bothers me in the future.

Will be attempting to rebuild this over the holiday. Plan is to get the 350 running in an engine cradle if it passes compression test.

honestly, it took 2 boxes 36 sqft each. I don't have the jute to go under the new carpet (carpet is "mass backed"). So I boogered up the floor of the Cutlass with this sound deadening as an experiment. Can't hurt. It was a lot of effort for something I might not notice and likely will never see again. If I get a warm day over xmas holiday, I may go lay the new carpet in there... I have no idea how much I'll have to cut away to get it to fit.

BTW, I saw you had rear seat brace sheet metal. I've been fitting up some 0.100" bar/plate stock in the back seat and I believe I'll be able to brace it pretty nicely with that.

If taking a carburetor apart and soaking it in seafoam/gas for a few days, wire brushing/cleaning it up, blowing it out, replacing the seals, needle valve, accelerator pump and putting it back together the way I found it is rebuilding a carburetor then I just did that.

I'll have to wait for a warmer weather before I commit to cutting this carpet, but I'm just glad to get it out of a box in the basement. Also this soft exterior carpet that I used in the Florida room is making for a good jute substitute.

Could not turn the 350 by socket on crank w/breaker bar; thought it might be seized. Didn't want to tip the stand. Made the mistake of attempting a counterclockwise turn and loosened crank bolt. Called the seller and he assured me he had it cranking recently. Oil caked valvetrain on passenger side head. Some plugs with soot, some must have been running hot. Shot some PB blaster in the plug holes.

Man, somehow just having carpet present makes the dash look better- I can't explain it.
