I was thinking about installing a double din radio in my 86 Monte Carlo SS.

Has anyone used this double din bezel? Any issues with it? What else is needed to get the double radio to mount?

Do you use a harness to get the speakers powered or did you run wires direct from the head unit to the speaker locations?

The front dash speakers are 3.5" and the rear shelf is 4x10"?

I was also thinking of cutting the factory bezel open another 5/8" to fit the double din radio instead of buying this cheaper looking bezel.

The dash between the radio & heater control will need to be trimmed to clear the radio. There's adapter harnesses that splice to the radio's harness so the factory radio conectors will just plug in. I'd hate to say one of those printed bezels would be better than trying to trim an original. Also a 1.5 DIN is wider than a double DIN. The fronts should be 3.5" & the rears are 4x10.

mr mclellan83 has a lot of experience in this dept hopefully he'll chime in.

Not as much as you think, hahaha. When I got my car it had everything pulled out of the center stack, so I never had a bezel to start with. There are people running that double din bezel, I would agree with pagrunt on how to go about it

I got one of these from Flow State machining IMG_6424.jpegIMG_6422.jpeg
