When it comes time to replace it with an original style or upgraded type that works along with the master cylinder... wheres a good source to find one, brand new if possible.

Spec - 1979 malibu, SBC v8 with original disk/drum setup, zero mods.

Dunno. Is it a dual diaphragm (GM p/n 18006497) or single diaprhragm booster (GM p/n 18004082)?

Cardone has a reman for the single diaphragm as well, under p/n 54-71172. O'reilly's sells them for about 98 bucks as well. Prices are all over the map.

Try Rockauto. They have a "new" dual diaphragm for your application for about $70. NO idea on quality, however.

It is. It appears from the reviews there seems to be delays on shipping those things at OPGI. Just keep an eye out.

Not that im into anything fancy looking, i found another, its brand new and the price is more than reasonable.... by SKP, anyone familiar with that brand?

These two i'll together and its much cheaper than OPG.

Have that exact SKP booster on my coupe, has worked fine since installed in Nov 2021

Nice to hear... i dont need anything fancy, just as long as it works.

For a reasonable price, it cant be beat for brand new.... did you have any trouble installing it, any modifications or tweaks?

Only hiccup was that in the course of installing it, I found that a prior owner had changed the master/booster to an '82 or later version, which required replacing the master with the year-correct unit. Would buy again if needed for the wagon.

Other than that... just a direct bolt in.

Both the master cylinder and brake booster i plan on buying are period correct for my '79 .... so i too shouldnt have any problems.
