Say what you will but I've got half a dozen versions of Purple Rain on my playlist. Original, country, blues...
What a shame Prince is gone. Probably one of the absolute best guitar players ever. I love this clip. All the classic old timers are there. He looked a bit out of place at first. "Drivetrain" is perfectly suited for the blues thread- great song!
Nice axe work by Prince but in any axe fight between him and Eddie Van Halen I would still go with Van H. Pity that both of them have passed on and we don't get to hear the jam sessions wherever they are. What a shame Prince is gone. Probably one of the absolute best guitar players ever. I love this clip. The back story to that video is that Prince was supposed to do the middle part, During rehearsal, Tom Petty's guitarist hogged the scene. At the filming, Prince just kept his cool and at the end, when the guy tried doing it again, Prince stepped up and shredded his *ss off. At the end he tossed his guitar into the air and just stepped away, knowing he had made his point.Nice axe work by Prince but in any axe fight between him and Eddie Van Halen I would still go with Van H.
