CVF: BUYER BEWARE

IIRC they don't send fully assembled hoses due to all the variables that are out there..

I've blown hose fittings off before, mainly because I didn't assemble the hose right.

IDK what pressure rating the Type 2 pump he has has, I know they can be cranked to upwards of 1600psi, generally they're around 900-1000psi.. which is right about the limit of most -6 braided hose. Personally I have a 3000psi hydraulic hose made as seen in the picture.. that blows there are bigger problems.

Between plumbing the pressure line into the return port of the steering box, and possibly not assembling the hose, correctly... I'd probably have a similar position of CVF... as that would 100% be end user/installer's fault and not the vendor's fault.

At a minimum the OP plumbed the power steering system WRONG.
Did he assemble the hose incorrectly? IDK depends who assembled those hose.

Remake the hose, can chop the frayed end of and pre-assembled the hose.

Could CVF sent bad stuff? Sure, they are human. Given the pictures posted... I doubt it.
At the end of the day, CVF (Nick) apologized because they acknowledged they sent the wrong fittings for the pressure I was generating. I’m not upset with them being human and sending the wrong parts, I’m bothered at the attitude and words of Trevor at CVF and how he handled the whole situation. At the end of the day Evil Performance parts seems to be far superior. I didn’t go into super detail in my post initially because I didn’t think the post warranted a deep dive. I simply wanted to warn the masses that CVF definitely have SHITTY PARTS and HORRIBLE SERVICE to accompany it. Those are facts and that’s my reality. Period.

For some reason, you and others have taken this ultra sensitive and defensive position about my post but you’re not in a position to speak on what I experienced.

Don’t walk it back. As a “supporting member” you took an unnecessary jab with the zip tie comment to a member who’s in the middle of restoration. Moreover, your contribution was back-handed and antagonistic. I’ve been apart of this forum since 2010, and I was under the impression we were here to advise, share, motivate, etc.
My contribution was designed to share my experiences so people like you could avoid unnecessary pitfalls. I’m not here to do the internet postering. And no, you wouldn’t say that to me. I assure you.

Now I see why they stonewalled you.

Go back and reread the posts. That is, if your reading comprehension has improved in the last few hours. You came in here like a figurative bull in a China shop that just had his nuts whacked. Raging at everyone for trying to understand the issue and help you. YOU came in here already hostile, and you therefore were met with hostility and snark in return. Check your 'tude at the door. This isn't how we operate. All we were trying to do is help. Good luck with the puddle. In my experience using a stiff brush and tide original non scented laundry detergent gets most of the stains out. Smells nice too.

I believe I commented when you bought the system, and all I had to offer was that I'd purchased from them and had no issues with my products. I didn't get anything like the kit you purchased though, as I'd never heard of the company before and wasn't ready to risk a lot of $$ until I bought small stuff first. I appreciate any and all feedback about aftermarket companies, especially new ones. Thank you for sharing your experience.

I'm also known to be a fairly intense individual, and my name is a bit of a misnomer- I'm only sweet if my blood sugar is high. More than once I've came here and said things that I later regretted because a switch gets flipped when I feel I've been taken advantage of or otherwise wronged. I think I completely understand how you feel and where your head is, as I've been there often. OFTEN. In a former life as well as lately. In fact, I gave a piece of my mind to a dink on Marketplace that had much more coming, and also recently exhibited road rage.

Having said that, I believe that people have offered help without antagonizing or picking apart your build, as I see factual comments and legitimate questions. It's not unusual for me to get defensive and it sometimes leads to lashing out at the wrong people, and I recognize that behavior in this scenario. Sometimes hoses get installed backwards, sometimes we use zip ties or other stuff permanently when better options exist. A competent high dollar shop sends neither out the door as a final product.

If a company sent me the wrong fittings as replacements for other incorrect fittings, then I'd be done with that company, period. I wouldn't even try to get a discount/ partial refund and I'm a cheap SOB. I mean cheeeaaap. If the hoses are on backwards, that can be swapped. If the hoses & fittings they sent suck, again, easy fix- buy new ones elsewhere. I know it's not fair or correct, and I can absolutely relate. I also find myself complaining about things like this to a world that doesn't listen, and have came to the conclusion that being upset about them not listening, caring, or helping only sets me back.

From my side of the street it appears that a new set of hoses and fittings from a trusted supplier is in order. Verifying the hose connections, positions, and routing could help as well. You've got a nice build going, and power steering hoses don't change that.

I haven't been a member long, but guarantee I've read more old posts than some members that existed when they were new. I agree that the tone of the forum has changed, the dynamic between members has too, and that's just unavoidable. The best thing we can do is try to be positive influences to get the change we desire, and that's tough when rage feels like home. But when I get angry and complain about struggling to accomplish simple things due to the world changing, it sounds like whining to everyone else. Even if I'm right.
