1979 Monte carlo

Welcome to the site & the world G bodies (even if your '79 is actully an A body). Best up front advice I'll give is invest in a good affordable set of tools & the factory service manuals (service, body, electrical, wire diagram & even the advance infomation). Put safety first with a good floor jack, jack stands & wheel chocks. Ask away when here as this will be one of the best places for info from our own trials & many errors. Make your first plan of attack should be get you car running & make sure everything is safe. Don't hack anything just to make something easier to fix cause you'll pay for it later. I am currently working with my boy who's younger than you with his '79 Monte Carlo along with my '81 I've had since I was 15.

Also we have a thing for pictures around here.

Welcome!
Pagrunt could not have said it any better.
I'm on my second 79 Monte Carlo. First one I purchased back in 1982 and just finally parted it out last summer. The second one is in my avatar, currently shows 17xxx miles from new. Built on the same assembly line (Oshawa Ontario) about 2 months apart.
Looking forward to some photo's.

Hey Caleb, it's nice to meet you and it's good that you came here- these guys have provided me with more information than anywhere else, even the other forums. You'll love it.

My name is Caleb, I’m in high school currently and am trying to get my recent project on the road for when I get my licence, I joined this forum bc at 16 this is all new stuff and I need help from people who know what they’re doing on the internet.
Welcome aboard. It's good that at your age you have an interest in older cars. Not many young guys these days are into classic cars. I've been a car show guy for over 25 years now and the young crowd has really dwindled over the last 10 years. They usually just walk right bye the old cars and run straight to the new Mustangs and Covettes. Us older folks need you guys to pass the torch to. Good luck with your Monte project.
