Wacky problem. Hoping someone can shed some light on it.

Hahaha! I can't afford to at this time. It's been thinning out up there. :p

Thank you for your suggestion(s) I didn't think an OBD scanner would be of any use in this case. Behind the ashtray is probably the only place that I didn't look so far. Today's another day. Wish me luck.

There is no alarm system whatsoever. What also happens is when I lock the doors overnight and check them the next day, they're unlocked. I'm guessing an OBD type scanner would be ineffective troubleshooting this problem?

Thank you Johnny. That makes sense to me now. Many of us have worked on cars in various stages over the years, but never get to know it all. I never proclaim or profess to know it all. The way I see it, everyday is a new learning experience. Body Control Module....hmmm! Electrical problems...

Johnny, Not to sound ignorant, but please define BCM. I take it it's a module of some type.

It still seems to unlock the doors overnight after locking them, Oddly enough, after cleaning the contacts in the door lock switches, the doors would remain locked overnight. Now I'm back to chasing my tail. I appreciate all your suggestions, Eric. I put the question out there figuring...

Wacky problem. Hoping someone can shed some light on it.

I have the lower dash panel removed on the driver side, but really don't see anything resembling a fuse box or block. I had the passenger side dash panel removed yesterday and it was the same deal. It might be deeper under the dash. I'll get back under there with a stronger flash light.

The only fuse box I'm aware of is on the passenger side inside the glove box, which is of course where I pulled the fuse for the door unlock.

Thanks Eric, I removed the fuse, and after driving the car around the block, I noticed that the doors don't unlock automatically. I could live with that rather than having the locks open and close sporadically. I'll keep an eye on it. Btw, do you know where the power door lock relay was...

Wacky problem. Hoping someone can shed some light on it.

Thanks for your reply, Eric, It certainly is an intermittent problem. It does lock the doors when put in drive. However, while driving, the door locks switch on and off like it's possessed. I have the operators manual and it does indicate a fuse to disable automatic door unlock. I assume it...

I removed the right side lower interior panel hoping to find the elusive relay, but still haven't located it. I was hoping to trace the appropriate colored wires to the source. Oh well, back to the drawing board. Maybe I will lift up the rear seat and check there. You never know.

reducing interior noise - what to install beneath carpet? CLD type mat? jute mat?

I've used a product called Bonded Logic. It comes on a roll and is made up of shredded denim with a foil backing. I did the entire inside of the car...roof, floors, cargo area, etc. It was fairly cheap and is a good sound deadener/ insulator. I purchased it from JC Whitney some years back. I...

Wacky problem. Hoping someone can shed some light on it.

Thanks Sean. According to the wiring diagram , the door lock relay connects between the switches and the door lock actuators. In this case, there's one actuator per door. I'll start by replacing the door lock relay, being that I already have the part. Then it's a matter of figuring out which...

Hmmm! I like your way of thinking. The simpler the better. Again, I'll refer to the wiring diagram in the Haynes manual.

Thank you guys. I appreciate your input. I guess I'll have to do some digging around. I do have a Haynes manual for these type of cars, but it does not specify where these relays are located. There is a wiring diagram for what it's worth. I'll put my thinking cap on and further investigate...

Wacky problem. Hoping someone can shed some light on it.

My daily driver is a '95 Olds Cutlass Ciera with just under 37,000 original miles. The car is in original condition overall. The problem I'm having is with the power door locks. It locks and unlocks by itself. mostly when I'm driving. Aside from being annoying, I really want to rectify the...

    What contact glue?

Brian, I've also watched guys doing vinyl tops at a Buick dealer that I used to work for. I also redid the vinyl sail panels on one of my past cars using good ole' Weldwood adhesive with excellent results. In fact, a local upholstery shop that has done odd jobs for me over the years has done...

    What contact glue?

I find that the spray can adhesives are inconsistent to say the least. I've used several different brand commercial adhesives. Some work better than others. Doing a headliner, you try coating the headliner board and fabric separately, yet trying to get enough adhesive on both parts can be...

Some 130 SI alternator swap info

I've found that I had to re-clock the alternator. Also, used a rear mounting bracket from a 3rd generation Camaro. (CS130) I also had to swap out the wider pulley for a V-belt type.
