I gave my wagon a wash and then drove it out to my sister's house where it will sit for the rest of the winter while I drive my "new to me" GMC truck. It gets to share space with its cousin, my sister's 87 MCSS.
Agreed! I used to be a big fan of them back when I was young. Then I realized that all you're doing is giving the tire company free advertising for the life of the tires, after you've already forked over an arm and a leg to pay for them. Besides, they look stupid when rolling about 15 mph...
The new year brought a new addition to my fleet. I got this 2006 GMC 1500. It will eventually become my younger son's. He's already a pretty big kid and doesn't think he'll fit well in something small like a Honda Civic or similar. He also said I can use it anytime I need it.
I...
I stumbled upon this one this year. I was never a fan of Twisted Sister or Halestorm for that matter, but the two of them sound really good together. The story goes that Dee Snider wrote this for his wife YEARS ago. He never recorded or released it. Years later, Celine Dion read the lyrics...
I quit going on Classic Olds even though I have a pair of Delta 88s. I feel like there are too many prima-donas over there. Nobody is allowed to do anything to their own cars that the 'donas" don't approve of.
Had to replace the wiper motor on the Cop Vic. Jr. came out of trade school on a beautiful bright sunny day and fired it up. The car went all "Christine-like" immediately when the wipers went on full-speed and the windshield washers emptied the reservoir. He drove all the way home without...
The exhaust was done before I got the car. I changed pretty much everything on the car since, except the exhaust, until now. I'm changing it too. But it will route the same way out behind the tires as it did before.
That's cheating.
Any time I see a car with exhaust dumping out in front of the rear wheels or ending at the rear axle, I get the impression that the guy cut corners there and probably a bunch of other places as well.
I just put a set of Hankooks on my 68 Cougar. I only went with them because I run a really outside the box size between the front and rear, 17" front and 18" rear and Hankook allowed me to match the tread in the two extreme sizes.
The lower price was a bonus. I haven't had them on long enough...
The exhaust system on my wagon was fresh when I got the car four years ago. It looked nicely done, but as soon as I started working on the car, I quickly realized it was THE LAST thing put on the car and certainly not designed with normal maintenance and servicing the car in mind.
Now, after...
This year was all about getting my Cougar back on the road. Next year is all about getting my 88 T-Bird going. It hasn't been driven more than a few weeks every other year in the last two decades.
I have everything to give it an end to end freshening up. I'm talking, all fresh fluids...
Love those Laguna's as well. Just different enough to be unique next to the average Chevelle.
We had a Laguna nose on the Roundy Round Sportsman Chevelle Stock Car I crewed on in the late 80s.
My wagon has been with me the shortest amount of time at 5 years on Thanksgiving weekend.
But I've had my Cougar since '78 after my Grandfather was the original owner and my T-Bird since '91 off the original owner.
I would think having the connections on the bottom would put extra stress on the lines from the constant movement of the springs and axle. Up top, not as much movement and less chance of the lines getting caught on something from the road. I'm not about to switch them around now.
I have them in my wagon for when towing or loaded down heavy. But I installed them with the inlets on the top and used the pucks to protect them there.
I did have one blow out about a month ago when dragging a trailer. But the bag blew out the side, not on either end.
I have a Sears Die-Hard in my 88 Thunderbird. Granted it spends 95% of it's time on a trickle charger and I 've really only been driving it about one month each summer for the last 5-7 years.
This is no BS. I bought and installed the battery in 1995 and it has held up ever since.
Sure, I...
Mine has the smaller 7.5 rear with 2:41 gears. It's a simple driver/cruiser.
As for the bumper fillers, I replaced mine with aftermarket. I can't remember where they came from, but the quality was good. It took a bit to get them in and fitting right, but well worth the effort.
