    Fast Idle Faster!

A 1984 has an electric choke, right? I have dealt with poor functioning choke elements before. It must be grounded properly, [no gasket] , and the hot wire must have a good 12 volts. A fresh new element may just solve this. It also may help to remove all the vacuum hoses and plug the fittings...

    Outside Car Cover?

I have found the best way to find a leak is to get inside with a shop vac, on 'blow'. Then squirt soapy water everywhere ouside, The leak will be revealed quickly.

    Outside Car Cover?

This is what I do to both the Bonnewagon and the Whaler. I use a very good quality cover first, then cover that with a very cheap 10x20 blue tarp. The blue tarp gets all the rain, snow, UV light, and bird crap, while protecting the good cover underneath. That way the good cover lasts a very long...

What did you do to/with your chainsaw today

When Superstorm Sandy dumped a few big limbs on our daughter's fence, all I had to work with was a small Remington pole saw. I removed the pole and used just the small electric saw that was maybe an 8"er. It worked just fine and holding it all day was not a chore like a big gas saw would have...

What did you do to/with your chainsaw today

Today I took the spare motor housing, installed the field coil/start button, the new armature, and some new brushes. I put the side of the gear case that mounts the armature main shaft in place and tested it. IT WORKS!!! Cool. I can build a third saw but still need a bar and side cover. The way...

What did you do to/with your chainsaw today

How did I miss this thread?!? I only need small saws for around the house. My trusty old Craftsman gas saw died long ago and I then switched to electric saws. I have an old Craftsman 14" electric saw that I got for free only needed an off/on switch. I put a new 12" chain and bar on recently and...

    Veterans day

PEOPLE!! Fly the flag today! Once again I am the only one on my block flying the flag. But then again, I am probably the only veteran on my block. I served with the 16th Engineer Battalion, 1st Armor Division, Furth, Germany. Any one else serve in USAREUR? Let's have a roll call.

    4 spd conversion

I used to only use the 10.5" clutches. Then my 1977 TA used an 11" clutch. BIG difference. I since then also used an 11" clutch on my 455. Same smoother overall operation. I don't know why but that 1/2" makes a substantial difference.

    Sealed beam?!?

The more I research, the more confused I get. Candlepower, wattage, kelvin, no one uses the same specs. I know from my home lighting that I prefer 5000k or better. I hate 3000K yellowish lighting, It looks like the Philips CrystalVision Ultra is 4000K both high and low versions. Even at 35/35...

    Sealed beam?!?

Ooops, brain fart. I was forgetting that. My '81 Malibu wagon used those and I thought they would work. Totally forgot about the size since I did not eyeball them first. And of course the brand-new-in-the-box bulbs I saved are those. I have a mix of both in my bulb stash. My second gen...

    Sealed beam?!?

So, just to be clear, I can use the 6054 bulbs in my outer spots, and they will be 'low' in low beam mode, but 'high' in high beam mode. Giving me four real high beams in 'high'.

    Sealed beam?!?

Both my 3 lug 2 filament low beam bulbs are 2A, and both my 2 lug single filament high beam lugs are 1A. If the number is candlepower I would think it would be the other way around? So in 'high' the low beam is still a low beam? Why do that I wonder? It would make more sense to be a 'high' and...

    Sealed beam?!?

When I look at RockAuto for my actual 1983 Bonneville lights, they are listed as either high or low beam [4651 and 4656]. But I have a 1981 LeMans nose and those are listed as 'high and low beam' [6054]. The wiring is the original Bonneville, I wonder if the 'high/low' bulbs would work with...

    Sealed beam?!?

Same here. Surprised the crap out of me! That is exactly what happened. I had no idea about this. I just replaced bulbs by either the 1A or 2A designation. So are the 1A high beams actually brighter? Because mine all look the same when they are on. Or maybe they are just old?
