Update on the trans situation- I got up to speed on research and learned the TH250C replaced the TH200 in the G-bodies and the 250C is what I have. Since it was only a $10 gamble I added some Lucas stop slip stuff to it. It maybe made a slight difference in how much it slips taking off from a...
Lol, that depends on how deep your wallet is and how deep is your love and gift giving for your fellow man? My shipping address is... ;)
I have an NV3500 I bought for an S10 project that I may use in my Bonneville instead but I think for easy driveability this one will stay an automatic.
The TH200 behind the 307 Olds in Grandpa started slipping and not shifting correctly yesterday. Fluid is full. If I powerbrake it while stopped it will take a couple seconds to build enough pressure (?) to go solidly into gear but clunks and grinds a little when it does. Normal taking off it's...
Sorry for the dumb question, aside from our '04 Suburban all my other cars are 79 or older. This Cutlass is new to me and is an 84, so the 80's electronics are a bit new to me. What year did the CCC system start taking care of timing and such?
I just watched a video about tuning an Olds engine. Fellow says to set timing by idle rpms rather than with a timing light and you're good to go. I want to get my stock 307 running at it's peak, and bumping up timing advance was on my list.
Any truth to what this fellow says to do?
The left front of the car looks like it may have hit a curb or something, the wheel was bent pretty bad and the lower arm is clearly bent upwards near the ball joint, giving the car some pretty hardcore positive camber. Since I don't know all the details of the crash I'm going to replace the...
Just curious if anybody knows of a decent looking alternative to a Hurst/Olds style wing, maybe from a newer car? Or an affordable aftermarket H/O wing? I saw one on a newer Mustang recently that looked good but the curve was too much compared to a G-body's straighter rear trunk body line.
Your project as well!
My first real build back in '92, was a beater sleeper 73 Nova 4 door. It ran an 11:1 n/a 406 small block Chevy, lots of fiberglass, drag shocks and springs, high stall and steep gears. As my daily driver it ran mid 11s in daily street trim with slicks. Lots of folks...
Drag racing initial test flight!
Last evening my son Roman and I took out Bruiser and Grandpa to the old abandoned small airport in our town for some drag race action. Despite being an oil burning factory Bruiserville has some decent torque and can do mean burnouts or donuts with ease...
I've got almost all the parts in for the car now, all the way down to some cool Dr. Oldsmobile stickers. I'll show everything with the cost as I go along.
I'm working on a rendering of a client's 1st gen Camaro build today, like what I draw for a majority of my clients it's a Pro Touring build...
This whole car thing for me is all about having fun. For each of my project cars I have a name and a mascot. To follow suit my very first purchase for Grandpa was it's mascot. I love Grandpa Carl's expression and it fits perfectly for the demeanor of this grandpa car-L.
I plan to debut the car...
