    Confused picking Moog spring

Some things to consider- Spring rate means how many pounds it takes to compress a spring 1". For example IIRC factory springs are around 350 lb spring rate, so it takes 350 lbs to lower the car 1". To maintain a decent ride height a 350 lb spring will be taller than a spring with a heavier...

    Parts interchangebility

Sweet! Thanks for verifying that!! The car I found in Vegas was actually a typo on Car-part's website and it was actually located in Oregon. :( But my friend that lives down there went scouting through a couple other yards and found a Malibu with a good trunk lid. He just wanted me to verify...

I don't, but hopefully I found one in Vegas, only about 1.5 hrs drive from here.

    Parts interchangebility

I have a friend in Las Vegas, Brian Baker who has "The Family Burnout Wagon" Malibu G-body wagon, who said he'll drop by and check out a lid from an 84 Bonneville I found on car-parts.com. It says it has a small dent in it but likely it's better than mine. I'll post an update when I find out...

I saw that too and considered it but this'll be a driver and I don't want to do that just yet. Down the road if things work out I want to make this a drag car so maybe then. Thanks for taking the time to look for me though. (y)

I just looked it up on that link on car-part and I'm seeing both 2 and 4 door Malibus listed as suitable exchanges. There's one in Vegas I might need to make a trip down to check out. It's been a while since I've visited a junkyard, they're more pricey than I expected. I might also get a local...

BLK- In pics they generally look the same, but something like a slight slope may be hard to detect. I'm in the SW corner of Utah, near the AZ border about 1.5 hours north of Vegas. Turna- was it 2 door to 2 door? or 4 door to 2 door? Thanks for the info Ribbed Roof. PontiacGP- thanks for...

Any Idea how the Malibus are different? Maybe I can mod/tweak one? I'll bet it would be easier to find one of those than the Pontiacs.

    Parts interchangebility

Hey all, been a while. I recently bought an 86 Bonneville to add to my G-body corral. It needs a trunk lid and searching the internet isn't giving me much info on interchangeability, just guesses from people on FB. Looks to me in pics like the rear design of the trunk lid looks the same, and I'm...

    Non G- We did Speedtech's '68 C10 Video review

Hey all, like me my son's passion is old cars, you've seen his Coppertop 78 Cutlass wagon, and he's also into video filming and editing. When he was 17 he and I had a chance to take Speedtech's C10 out for a cruise to do a review video of it, and he's now got it up on his YouTube channel. He's...

    79 Cutlass Wagon G-machine build

Lol! Well, the rear has the sticky fatties too. And I've been playing with sway bars and shock settings for a long time to get rid of over steer and have the car corner pretty well balanced, so I hope not. This engine will have about 200 more hp and 100 more ft. lbs. than the old one so I may...

    79 Cutlass Wagon G-machine build

Got a few minutes to work on Pumkinator's engine bay over the weekend. Some progress was nice, I've been so busy lately and the projects are unfortunately last on the to do list. The 315-18 Rivals will be autoX only tires so I can't wait to put the old 275-17 street tires on and roast them for...

    Stroking a 305

FWIW I started fixing up my 305 in my Cutlass wagon which had been rebuilt by the previous owner and had about 35,000 on it. I added a Crane 266 cam that had .440 lift, air gap dual plane intake, Edelbrock 600 carb, Pertronix HEI internals upgrade, headers and a single 3" exhaust. The lower...

    1.6 rockers & clearance

In my 406 SBC I had Summit brand 1.6 roller tip rockers on a Comp 268 cam with factory 400 heads and push rods with no issues or need for clearancing. That put the lift right around .510. Good luck!

Mad Wagon II, '79 Cutlass Pro-Touring Wagon

Hafrod- I have the single bar grilles in my wagon and my son had the single bar grilles in his car but they got damaged in the accident. The Mad Wagon has the 2 bars and they'll stay with that car. I have an extra pair of 2 bar and a pair of 3 bar but I think my son might be interested in...

Mad Wagon II, '79 Cutlass Pro-Touring Wagon

That's interesting that they don't list that parts fit wagons. Speedtech parts obviously fit wagons just fine. Some companies don't list a certain car because they've not had one in the shop to try it out. A good example is Speedtech doesn't sell S10 arms even though they're said to be the same...

Mad Wagon II, '79 Cutlass Pro-Touring Wagon

Thanks fellas. I get to compare myself with the welding crew at work who do amazing work. I would like to get to their level at some point. :) Yes this is the spare frame I picked up in AZ when we picked up the Mad Wagon. It's from a Malibu wagon so I may be dealing with some custom work up...

Mad Wagon II, '79 Cutlass Pro-Touring Wagon

Finally some updates- My son has been saving $ for his V8 S10 project and yesterday we dropped his block at Snow Performance, the local machine shop and race engine builder. We're having it bored and will have them putting in Keith Black eutectic flat tops and Scat rods with the larger 7/16s rod...
