Ok, so I installed the the Transgo 4L80E Transgo HD2 shift kit. The good, it comes with a new seperator plate. You do have to drill two holes, pressure relief and you actually add a spring loaded pressure relief valve and plate to the actual valve body. New bigger boost valves, stiffer springs...
As said the valve body will probably need changed, depending on how the manual conversion was done. Probably best to get the Sniper TCM to control it with the same 3.5" handheld. While I have been less than thrilled with the Terminator X Max on my Olds 350 SEFI conversion, the trans control...
That Pentroof 4 valve engine is super efficient, as well powerful. They were surprised how lean it wanted to be jetted and 25 degrees total for best power. Another huge what if, like the F-88.
I had about 4 washers worth of space, I tightened the flexplate to the converter and it puked trans fluid on the floor, pulled the converter out too far. Use washers to take up most of the space.
It's too bad Olds didn't expand that manifold to the 307 with digital SEFI to replace the analog. My RPM was converted by Wilson manifolds. There us some argument that this manifold has better injector placement than my conversion. Problem is, this single plain is such a flat manifold, pretty...
Yes, right there. The mid 70's Olds 350 were GM best 350 from that time. No issues with flat cams, unlike chevy. I have a ridiculous fortune in my Olds 350, SEFI conversion and will be getting the new Edelbrock 68cc heads, hopefully shipping this month and roller cam for around 400HP in a mild...
74 only? Do you mean the 73 only Oldsmobile script covers? I have painted Oldsmobile script valve covers on the 350 currently. I compared the new covers to the aluminum Edelbrock valve covers without baffles, which are marginally taller to a set of 260 valve covers on my shelf. The new aluminum...
So these arrived, Peyton's covers are super nice but triple the cost. These look really nice along with the welds, I like the short outside edge. The baffles look good and they fit 1.25" grommets. Similar height to stock covers but gain from the shape and no recessed gasket ledge.
You know the R4 brackets need to be extended as they were never an option on the tall deck Olds. Just a FYI on the needed fabrication. Looks like you have all the goodies to get serious on your 425 build.
I ordered a set of the aluminum welded valve covers with breather holes. They should provide slightly more clearance than stock. I like the separate outside ledge on the bottom. I also ordered the Transgo 4L80E HD2 shift kit, while the trans is out. Mark is supposed to send my flexplate this...
My understanding is, it meets or exceeds all the current standards. No seal swelling agents and regular ZDDP levels. The wear tests are good and the cleaning agents definitely work. I checked my Daughter's Edge, the oil is blacker than I have ever seen with plenty of time left on the oil...
Ok, so I was going to buy the US made ATI flexplate. Despite being supposedly checked for balance, obviously not very well. Cutlassefi and others have had issues with them not being neutral balance out of box, double digit ounces out. So I sent Mark some more money for another Speedmaster...
I ground down the EGR cover on the Performer to run a Thermoquad. You now see why Edelbrock says that carb doesn't fit with the EGR Performer intake for the Olds 307 through 403. You could add a thicker carb gasket to limit the grinding or add another spacer.
There has been 450HP out the 307, Dale Robinson did it. It means moving ports around in the head, high compression, better ring packs etc. An aggressive cam, headers and dual exhaust. Forget more than 250HP with the terrible Vin 9 exhaust set up.
It was supposedly an option only the 88 Cutlass. My 88 had an 83 307 with a 10SI alternator. Absolutely correct on the improved cooling to go with the increased amperage on the 12SI. It may be just an aftermarket add on in the parts computer or maybe it was added late in the model year. The...
Ok so I got the Terminator X Max and all it's wiring moved. I needed three holes with 1.75" OD/1.5" ID grommets to fit all the wiring. It is neater under the hood but far from perfect. Good lord is there a ton of wiring between the EFI, ignition box/distributor, fuel pump and the trans harness...
The 12SI is a no brainer and a super easy swap. Just male sure it is a true 12si, many are a 10SI with an upgraded fan or a 1 wire. There is a 88 Cutlass CS 130 105 amp option out there, I had one on my 88 Cutlass, a Champion/Remy reman.
