    Electronic Speedo Conversion PIC HEAVY!!!!!!!

Correct. 90-91 Suburbans and Blazers had the 700r4 with a VSS signal generator rather than traditional Speedo gears in the tailshaft housing. When I posted the comment that you quoted 2 years ago........the transition period between the 700r4 and 4l60e was a little less clear to me.

    Electronic Speedo Conversion PIC HEAVY!!!!!!!

I don't have any pictures off hand. If you Google image "90-91 suburban electronic speedometer"......you can get an idea of what they look like. Main thing is that it has the circuit board on the back (like on the first page of this thread) rather than the cable connection. Also, I'm far from...

    Electronic Speedo Conversion PIC HEAVY!!!!!!!

That is an 89 and earlier mechanical speedometer. You will need one from a 90-91 suburban or full size blazer.

    Electronic Speedo Conversion PIC HEAVY!!!!!!!

Can you post a picture of the back of the speedometer? That looks a lot like a mechanical speedometer. I've pulled a couple of these......mine have a single indicator light for brights.....resolution to the nearest mpg........and the face has the word "Quartz" on it.

    LS accessories and brackets needed

Agreed........no need to ship. Around my area, you can't swing a dead cat without hitting LS truck accessories and brackets. Craig's list or the U Pull should have what the OP is looking for.

    LS accessories and brackets needed

He indicated in his original post that he was not looking to pay aftermarket prices. Holley makes nice stuff.....and they are definetly proud of it.

    Here goes nothing!

05-06 were essentially a gen 3 with gen 4 rods and pistols. There was no AFM until 07. The 05-06 are the holy trail for low budget turbo applications.

What year charger? 68-70........ trade it 06+ ............ keep the el camino

    Here goes nothing!

I might have taken the same approach 10 years or so ago. But after seeing the abuse that the gen 4 motors are taking........my 86 monte is getting a 200k mile gen 4 truck motor and a Chinese 7875 turbo. That's the cool thing about the sloppy mechanics crowd.....they are, more or less...

    Here goes nothing!

What year is your 5.3? All you really need is a good running 05-06 4.8/5.3/6.0 for up to 800 rwhp. No need to buy rods, pistons, crank, etc. The factory gen 4 rods have really proven themselves in high HP boosted applications. If you are satisfied with 500-550rwhp, then the gen 3 rods...

    CUTLASS 85 cutlass

No doubt. I've parted a couple of 87-88 cutlasses over the years. Pass headlight $100, pass grille and trim $90, pass corner light $40. rocket emblem $50-$100 depending on condition. OP should be able to pay for the fender and complete 81-86 header by selling a few of the 87 parts.

    81-87 Regal?

Based on your plans for an ls swap, I would look for an 84-87 GN or T type roller. Starting out with a turbobuick you get a baffled tank, FI sender, FI fuel lines, and an 8.5 rear. These are all components that you would need to purchase or upgrade if you start with a carburated regal. In...

    just a rant

Same thing where I work......the new engineers go out and buy a new vehicle before receiving their first monthly paycheck. I've tried to suggest to them to buy a $2k vehicle instead and invest the money they would otherwise put towards a monthly vehicle payment. I haven't been able to reach...

    Explorer 8.8 Axle in a G Body

The southside machine kit looks to be similar to the trick chassis kit and others......involving welding of brackets and spring perches to the 8.8.

    Explorer 8.8 Axle in a G Body

So everything is included in the $600 kit to physically mount the rear into a gbody? Is the placement and welding of the brackets and spring perches fairly straightforward (for a weekend welder like myself)?

    1984 El Camino value

He said I could buy the car for 5000 .. however currently I have no room left in my barn if it is in the condition you describe......for $5k I would make room for it. It wouldn't be hard to flip it for $8-10k. Not a big fan of them myself, but el caminos have an odd following.

    Explorer 8.8 Axle in a G Body

So what am I missing here? You say no mods to the explorer rear.....so you installed it "as is" with the pumkin offset to one side?

Setting up a new unconventional AC system

You wouldn't need to buy one new.....both craigslist and salvage yards are full of suburbans, yukons, and tahoes. For around $50 you could have the AC unit and controls. You would need to get custom lines from the compressor and figure out the ductwork.....but it doesn't seem like it would be...

Setting up a new unconventional AC system

If you wanted a more budget friendly option, you could go with rear AC unit out of a suburban.
