While you are at it ..... paint your window trim, door handles, lock cylinders......etc. with SEM semi gloss black......or find monte ss pieces. IMO....on these cars, the more chrome you remove.... the better they look.
The 8.8 is not quite a bolt in deal.....but pretty close. I believe the trick chassis kit in the link below is one of the best kits to swap an 8.8 into a gbody...
Although we are missing details on your car, transmission, etc....... if I were in your shoes, here is what I would do:

Get the ebay ls/sbc motor mount adapters...

Occasionally, someone will tell me the would like to buy an 87 rather than an 86 GN because it has 10 additional hp.
Truth is ........ that published hp figures for both years understated the actual performance of the car. It was a strategic move to not offend the flagship corvette yet still...
86 and 87 GNs were identical with the exception of a couple of cosmetic changes (I assumed you were implying 87 had superior performance to 86 - which is not true).

The last gbody rolled off of the assembly line in Dec 1987. None were manufactured in 1988.
There were 88 model year Cutlass and Monte Carlos while the Regal, Grand Prix, and El Camino ended in the 1987 model year.
Some late 90s GM vehicles had a stand alone system that can be adapted to older vehicles with power door locks.
