FINALLY got the car out of the mud/ice pit that was my portable garage. And none too soon as were moving Saturday. Yes, the new house has a 2 car heated garage so i'll be a happy man. Also, I was able to find a NOS Hurst V-Matic 2 shifter so I swapped that in.
I've looked into this before. From what I've read with the 455 at least since most buicks were automatics, there's an automatic and a manual crank. The factory didn't finish most cranks to accept a pilot bushing. This is duscussed in better detail over at V8 Buick...

So heres the cable I have. It's a little longer than the one NCTyphoonKid pulled from his car. Im thinking it may be a design change or maybe specific for an OD transmission. Any input?
