On my installment of "what are you doing to your pickup"
Joe's making me want to do a grill swap too. I want an STX grill but hard to find in my color as they are paint matched.
Anyway we went from 37-50F highs and dry to 10F and 3" of snow in like a 2 day period this week and I wasn't ready...
Took the thing out for a short drive yesterday, yup, it's November
And fixed my non functional radio antenna.
The plug side of the antenna was rusted to the socket and when I pulled the fender off it pulled the cable out of the crimp. I've had reservations buying a new one because I'm not...
Garage tetris
My garage is only 21x21 and the new pickup won't fit. Workbench+ pickup= door today won't close. I don't plan on parking it inside long term but it would be nice to be able to pull it in during the winter to change oil or something.
So flip the bench to the right side and toolbox...
100%
I also had someone on the FB question say that my tires are likely shot (sidewall). Maybe he's used to 8sec and faster stuff that actually kills the sidewall but it made me think.
So I'm split, do I go to a ET pro or SS M/T and refine that tire? Do I stay with the DR2? Do I want to mess...
Yeah that's been a thing most of this summer. Usually Byron is so sticky you could walk on a ceiling and I have 3 broken rear ends to show for it but almost all the big power drag week cars had issues going down this year and even I spun.
The only track I had with stellar prep last summer was...
Yes. If we talk about from full loose-
I'm at 8 compression 12 rebound
You are at 12 compression 4 rebound
I used to also go from full loose on my notes, so my numbers are all in from zero in my head. 8-9 compression, 9-12 rebound.
That translates to 10-11 compression and 7-10 rebound when I...
So phase 2 of 'stop breaking axle parts' is ask people how the launch looks and try to figure our why I get the tire shudder from 15-45ft off the starting line. The default is to change tire pressure or shocks, but I think I have done a light scan of both on my setup and yielded no results...
You are an animal dude.
Actually, you are much more advanced than an animal.
You are a galaxy traveling alien dude.
Kinda cool to see the work that goes on behind the scenes of a really full custom car and makes me appreciate metalwork on say a GNRS/Riddler quality 55-88 type build a lot more...
Nobody really cuts the dual pigtail rear springs in my knowledge.
Stock A body springs, moog 5401, 5409, 5413, seem to be the way to go to lower the backs. I have 5401 in my light cutlass and 5409 in my heavier 2+2. I'm sure there are some applications like a gutted fiberglass malibu where you...
Installed the cpp bar today
Lipstick on a pig
It took some modification but it was pretty much drop in minus cutting the end links down 1/4".
Blazer vs. cpp
I essentially tossed the instructions in the trash and installed it wrong to make it fit better.
The instructions call to put the...
Not the answer you are looking for cut cut the flanges off and get a euro joint style collector.
They are a ball coupler but use a single bolt radius clamp to lock them together & they don't rattle loose.

It's all I run now.
My CPP sway bar bounced around CA for a few days before it got to my step but it arrived.
This is the same one Jim used on his Monte which is running a full 2 seconds faster than me so it should be sufficiently stiff. As mentioned my Blazer 1" bar isn't enough now that I'm in the high 1.5 60fts...
Put about 100 miles on the car this weekend running some errands, to work, and grabbing some ice cream sunday night.
Besides the clutch randomly not fully disengaging when the car sits for a few days (it comes back to normal when it warms up?) it's been great to get out and drive it a bit while...
Preaching to the choir here but yeah, expecting a drop spring to universally drop a 30-40yr old car with galaxy wide different weights and tire sizes is wishful thinking.
A quick case study-
Both of these cars are moog 5660 front springs with .5" taller lower ball joints and are full...
Speaking of repackaged products from Chyna....
Did you see the lowdoller chyna made vs. Motion 'made in 'merica'' pressure sensor that are the same sensors squabble that happened this week?
