You are best off unbolting the GN engine harness and buying a carb V6 or V8 engine harness from 83+ to use. The GN harness has a ton of extra stuff that the LS swap doesn't need. Spark control, sensors, cruise stuff, etc.
The fuse panel bulkhead has 2 arms, one goes to the chassis for lights...
I stumbled on one of those crydom SSR's in the prototype warehouse at work and a coworker tried using it on a project and they also didn't work so odd that you had the same issue...
Is the 4303 a pwm compatible pump?
So how many rods did you not bend?
For sure more carnage than I thought.
I'd go 10.5 unless you know you know your not going to have the availability to have at least some ethanol available. Even e10 is fine if you stay out of the throttle on cruise. It's only going to help and you're past...
Drilled & tapped 5/8 holes into my new sacrificial torque twisters
They fit. I wish I would have went 1/2-20 Because I did have to drill these out one size and they're snug to get in, but it's done
But it's done, good to drive for another few weeks.
I think this car is going to the in...
I still was unable to find a 37/64 drill yesterday. I should have just put 1/2-20 studs in and forgot about this mess. I have 2 other options today, I should have just bought one off mcmaster by this point...
I went to plan A and chucked a twisty axle in my lath and drilled and tapped the first...
So tonight was a bit of a 'squirrel!' day.
Ran after work trying to find the tap drill for the 5/8-18, a 37/64. Non existent. Nobody stocks anything but 1/16 sized above a 1/2. Great. I've got loads of Morse taper lathe tailstock bits but not a 37/64... I need to see if I can find one from...
So looking around it appears that general consensus is an extended tip TR6 style plug should be used only up to ~10-15 psi by some people and others say NEVER run a projected tip plug on boost. The projected tip can act like a glow-plug and auto ignite, the non projected tip plugs pull the strap...
So dumb question
Why are extended tips bad? Are they more at risk of Kabooms, blowing spark out? Something else?
The interwebz says tr6 are ok under 10 psi and br7ef are recommend 10-22 psi and br8ef are 22+, but I don't understand the pros and cons of extended or non extended tip plugs
Also-
I pulled the plugs to *try* and check that my timing made sense.
Basically I learned
1. The plug needs to be fresh before the pass (not have 500 miles on like these)
2. You need to check the plug in the shutdown, 2 minutes of idling to the pits & on/off the trailer will contaminate the...
100%, the LCA has to point up or it's spin/wheel hop city.
I wish I could find the document that calls out where the % squat or anti squat number comes from. I get it's some distance above/below the center of gravity to the tire line but how the calculator gets from 3" above that line to 115%...
I have Viking Warrior and have had good experience.
If you want to do anything noprep you need the double adjustable vs. a single. They are usually a bit better priced than a QA1. Viking is owned/run by a former QA1 employee and they are both made in the same town in MN.
Late 90's e250 ford vans also got semi float D60's and they are CHEAP.. Plentiful & under $200.
The biggest pain is figuring out the upper control arm tabs. I can always build another bolt on UCA bracket like I have for my 8.5 but it's a bit of a plasma cutting, CAD & milling endeavor...
Yeah, I think most everyone is getting what I am, an 8.8 ford is maybe a bit stronger than the 8.5 GM but they are in the same ballpark.
The Strange D60 is a bit cheaper than the 9" actually and like mentioned you can get GM pattern ends and run B body/blazer/f body disks. Add $175 in this...
