    Paint removal advice

For budget, I'm definitely with the abrasive discs & grinder. I'd have a better quality higher amperage grinder, which you can always find other uses for. One of mine is a bosch with variable speed, which can be useful. Do it outside with a fan blowing at least some of it away from you, a dust...

    Max tire size

Question of how big always comes up and along with the wide variations from individual vehicles & also from side to side that varies, so there is never one safe absolute maximum number for everybody.. Shorter diameter will have more room than taller sizes. There is a thread on el camino central...

Kobalt Blue Tools Just Went Red

Guess I'm no one, cuz all I have is an old swing needle torque wrench. I agree that craftsman is nothing but a cheaper product living off the fumes of the original name.

Ever seen an "A" or "G" body gone to waist? Please share...Here is my recent experience.....

It is always sad to see. Remember a pair of superbirds sitting there rotting away an driveway & owner wouldn't come off them. A few years ago a friend got an 83 elky SS that sat in someone's backyard for I think 20 years or so. Was virtually dent free original paint. Rust from bottom up &...

    Hard start when hot

Timing sounds good to not have slow spinover when hot.. Rich mixture can also cause harder starting when hot. Weak spark can also contribute. Hey, think I found the problem. You got a Chinese knock off carburetor called edelbach. No wonder.

HOW? long nights of evil mystical scheming & calling upon the powers of the dark underworld.:wtf::bs: Ok , maybe not. But some thought & planning though. On the c-7 vettes, there is a separate upper & lower bumper which runs up to where the lower vents are as opposed to the rear being...

Got tailgate partially functioning tonight, loosely attached. Shocks are way to weak which I figured, so need plan b on them. May do cable with guide rollers to springs on inside of tailgate, which would allow the sides to be enclosed more. Will need roller under rear slide arm as far back as...

    How to make 26s fit

Don't forget brake upgrade to slow down those big ole flywheels. While anything can be lifted up to clear big wheels, you get the bolt on look. Takes a real man with a grinder & welder to tuck in big rollers & stand out from the bolt on crowd.

Ever smash up a bath tub?

Broke up a piano string support with a hammer in the house along with other cast iron items. Broke pretty easily. Extra protection , such as a faceshield ain't a bad idea. Be crazy, not stupid. The older ya get, the more ya disassemble stuff to move it.

    Stock G Body ECM Dimensions

I found my 83's diesel computer under the top of the dash years ago, was about checkbook sized. Best I remember most late model ecm's were in the pass side kick panel & were approximately 1 to 1.5" thick by about 4" x 6" , guessing from memory.

Started on turning upper vette bumper into a functional tailgate. used a full size truck tailgate as a starting point for an inner structure, getting it roughly to shape. In order for tailgate to hinge with proper geometry & not have exposed pivot points I had to design a mechanism that will...

exhaust cutouts? gains, pros / cons?

I made a cutout after my x- pipe going into a 3.5" ovaled single exit piped into a drivers side exit in front of the rear wheel. Cable operated for instant on & off. I feel that a length of pipe gives better sound quality rather than dumping under floor, some late models adjust through exhaust...
