    BUILD THREAD “The Juggernaut”

Its an amazing process Donovan. The results speak for themselves. Looks really good. It will make your work much easier now. I had some rusty parts that I needed to get cleaned up last year, so I decided to try the laser process. I took them to a guy just east of Toronto. I asked him how the...

'78-'79 Malibu SBC oil pan/dipstick question.

No problem 79 USA 1. As nearly as I can figure, GM only used that setup for 2 model years (1978 & 1979), so I knew it would be a hard item to find. I appreciate your help.

'78-'79 Malibu SBC oil pan/dipstick question.

Thanks very much 79 USA 1. If you find that dipstick and tube, please let me know. I've been fighting a spring cold since Friday, so not checking in often. I did consider the older style manifolds, but they don't really go along with the "look" that I'm trying to achieve for the engine bay in...

'78-'79 Malibu SBC oil pan/dipstick question.

Thanks melloelky, but even the universal dipstick tubes won't work for what I'm trying to do.

'78-'79 Malibu SBC oil pan/dipstick question.

Thanks Sweet_Johnny. I have considered the newer style dipstick. Usually though (on most of them anyway), there's a plastic piece at the lower end of the dipstick with the "full" and "add" marks on it, and I'm not sure about the length of that plastic piece trying to make it through that bend in...

'78-'79 Malibu SBC oil pan/dipstick question.

Thanks for the info Pagrunt. I've been trying to see if I could fabricate a dipstick tube, but the tube needs to bend at about a 45 degree angle right after it comes out of the oil in the deck surface of the block, and withat kind of angle, the dipstick doesn't want to make that bend.

'78-'79 Malibu SBC oil pan/dipstick question.

I'm attempting to swap a 400 SBC into an '88 Caprice, using late '80s 350 F body exhaust manifolds. The problem I'm running into, is that the outlet on the F body exhaust manifold sits directly in front of the hole for the oil dipstick tube on the 400 block. Years ago, I owned a '79 Malibu with...

    BUILD THREAD “The Juggernaut”

More nice work Donovan. Your patience continues to amaze me. The variety of tools and different grades and types of discs as well. Some of those discs aren't cheap either. I recently purchased a couple of Roloc bristle discs, for cleaning off gasket surfaces, and those little 2" diameter discs...

    Auto to manual swap

Red Loctite on the bolts would be a wise precaution.

Great work as always Donovan! Although most people will see your fabricated piece on the car when its all finished, I think that most people will think that it came from the factory that way. That blue is a beautiful colour too!

Nice work Donovan! As usual, very good attention to the details. Are those Deutsch connectors similiar to weatherpack connectors?

    Lowering Malibu confusion need advice!

Keep in mind that on some of these cars, the rear axle assembly is not always precisely centered over the frame. I had an issue with my '80 Malibu where the right rear tire would rub on the frame and inner wheelhouse, and the left side had clearance.

Your fabrication, welding and metal finishing skills just amaze me Donovan. After your work is done, everything looks completely seamless. Nice job!

    BUILD THREAD “The Juggernaut”

Wow. More nice work Donovan. Just my $0.02, but you've done so many custom touches so far, that I would say to eliminate the bump, and make it smooth all the way across. Would you have to do any work on the tail panel, "massaging" it, to make sure that the top is perfectly flat to the pinch...

Finally finished my LSA swap in my 78 Malibu.

Wow! Very nicely done! Alot of work, time and effort, and the results are amazing. Thanks very much for sharing all of the info, photos and video. Looks like it will be a fun ride!
