they are 3 and 3/8 inch. To be honest it was super easy to do this. all i did was ground the existing hole to the right size and removed what ever needed to get the gauges to sit in right. and i still have the printed circuit working the oem stuff.
it will make the shift firmer by HOLDING the gear better. how hard it shifts is controlled by the accumulators. if the valve body isn't set up right you'll get mushy shifts were ever the valve body was weak in your case 3-4. if the tv cable isn't right you'll get weak "searching" gears were it...
Throttle valve cable controls line pressure. if it was off it would slip every gear. not a weak shift in one. shift feel is controlled by the valve body springs.
if you set up the valve body right it will. i built two others exactly like mine and they both go into 4th WOT. 4th isn't a cruising gear its a gear OD is for cruising thats why the engine has to be stable. got 4 gears why not use them?
thats just how its gonna be in 4th. the update kit (correction kit) fixes these problems in the 700r4. i rebuilt mine my self and i put the better pump, bigger boot valve, correction kit, Corvette Servo in it. i haven't drove it yet but it should hit every gear the same. Shift kits make...
have you but an update kit in the valve body? and the bigger boost valve? 700r4s are designed not to shift into 4th vary good at WOT until you do some valve body work.
do a coolant flush and replace the thermostat. if the old one isn't opening like it should its holding hot coolant in the block. witch would lead to higher temps. Also when the cooling system has a leak it loses pressure. When it loses pressure the boiling point drops. so also check your cap...
yea i know the aftermarket shifters use them. i was gonna retro fit on out of an b and m shifter but went the cheaper way. i prolly wont worry bout the back up lights for now. im unsure if i wanna keep this center console or get an entire dash and center console out of an 88 Camaro so i can use...
Re: Header issues
A lot of header manufactures say you have to run a cable shifter when using long tubes. i think on manuals you have to use shorties. idk if you can fit mid length or not
the sats were pretty simple. it only took me 4 hours and cost me $81 (60 bucks for the pair of seats and 6 bucks for the flat stock 15 for the shifter and console) to do this i took the original brackets and took them apart. used the base of the original bracket and drilled holes in it the...
get the cable housing the bolts to the transmission out of they yard. get the correct gears for your set up and youll be good. i havbe a 700r4 and did the same thing. look for older trucks 2wd. these a ton of them out there with 700r4s
once its finally drivable, i have to put a ford 9'' under it (pinion head is going to snap off :blam: ) and then i want to do a brake swap to the C6 14" rotors and the camaro rear brakes in the rear. as body work goes. haha its a sleeper! might look like sh*t but when it out does every other car...
