What did you do to your non g-body project today [2025 edition]

Looks like new bed is not a stepside bed? That will be a massive improvement… both aesthetically and functionally. I hated the stepside bed on my GMT400.

Replaced the A/C compressor in my little Honda with a Chynuh unit from eBay. Looks like it was reverse-manufactured from an original because it has the exact same casting marks as the original compressor. It was fairly easy to access and install. A/C is now blowing nice and cold.

Keep throwing parts at that truck and it’s gonna look like new before long…

anyone else buying up parts before tariffs hit?

Not just Moog and ACDelco. Motorcraft, NGK/NTK, Bosch, Honda/Toyota OEM, Denso, Bilstein… seriously, anything with a recognizable name. The fakes are really good copies too, not good quality, just good at looking like the real thing. I’ve seen knockoff Motorcraft plugs that I couldn’t tell were...

    Paint Rust Question

I’ve used the green bottled one. I’m sure they’d both work.

    Paint Rust Question

Try an iron remover spray. I’ve used the Meguiars Professional one, green bottle I think. Smells bad, but it worked. Might take a couple applications with that much contamination but it turns purple to show that it is working.

That boat is so damn cool. Its gonna be killer when it's done. It's hard to tell from the pictures, about how big is it?

The "Famous Brand" stuff listed on Rockauto is all Carquest stuff they must've bought from some of the 700+ Advance Auto Parts stores that were closed down. The numbers and pictures all correspond to Carquest stuff on AAP's website.

MALIBU I’m about to purchase the best battery 🪫 in the world

I'm convinced the Panasonics from Japan are the best car batteries around. Unfortunately. We can't get them here in the States unless your car was manufactured in Japan and came with one new. Beyond that, East Penn/Deka seems to be the best of the big three right now, Exide the worst, and...

In these older Hondas the fluid in the ABS system and the fluid in the regular brake system are isolated. They have separate reservoirs and everything. It was a weird system but they don't mix.

New rear calipers, parking brake cables and spark plug wires on the '97 Accord. Check out that nasty brake fluid too. Flushed it out on all four corners until I got clean, clear fluid from the bleeders.

MALIBU 231 GM Chevy Malibu 83 Engine Can you use Flat pistons from the 3.0 Buick or 181 GM engine? For more compression! ? Thanks to whoever can help me.

If I recall correctly, there are some flat tops that will technically work, and will raise your compression, but the flat tops mess with the flow characteristics of the heads in a not-so-good way.

    BUICK 1964 Skylark Coupe Project

Welded a couple pieces in today. I might have to go back and fill in with or two more tacks but overall I'm very happy with it. It'll never get seen but at least it's nice and solid and won't rust back through now.

    BUICK 1964 Skylark Coupe Project

Glad to have all of you following along, really helps with motivation. We've had frigid temperatures all week but I got in the garage yesterday and made a couple pieces for the small rust areas in the windshield channel area. Picture doesn't do it justice but they fit really well. I also...

Replaced the seals in the power steering pump on my '97 Accord. This car had a dozen leaks when I got it, I'm slowly identifying and fixing them. This one was pretty bad. I got a seal kit from RockAuto for about $10. Hopefully this does it.

    BUICK 1964 Skylark Coupe Project

I could be very happy either way, blue or cream white. If I wind up going with the blue, it'd be the code F Marlin blue with code C Artic white top, and likely dark blue interior. The ironing board console? I like it but they are rare and tough to find in good shape. I was thinking a 64-65 GTO...

    BUICK 1964 Skylark Coupe Project

Blue is my color... but then check this one out. This is actually what mine would've looked like originally, and damn does it look good. Not sold on the interior, but with a white/black interior, I think it'd be sharp.

What's really scary is just how many more M18 batteries I've acquired since that last junkyard escapade... those were really my only limiting factor.

    BUICK 1964 Skylark Coupe Project

The beige does look really clean and I think redline tires set it off just right. With a white and black interior it could really look sharp. And Buick wasn't even the most expensive marque, just imagine what you got when you bought a Cadillac!
