Put another new 800 series steering box (Edelman 3001) and pitman arm (Allstar Performance) in the Olds. Big fiasco with this over the last few weeks. Turns out the whole problem was the pitman arm was manufactured wrong with the 4 locator marks in the wrong spots. Couldn’t get my steering wheel...
I’ve been there several times over the last few years, loads of stuff in that warehouse. This is a weekend gig for them, call Ralph to be sure he’ll be there on Saturday or Sunday.
Dreary day today, cold as well. Went out in the garage around 4 and changed the oil and filter in the Olds. Had it out the other night and it’s running well with the minor carb and timing adjustments we made last week. Hopefully get a good evening this week to get it out again. 🤞
That little tidbit has been floating in my head for a long time. I finally got it done and it was a let down. I showed photos of what I wanted and when I picked the car up that was what I got. It looks like an old Gibson Flying V guitar. I may try and remove it and do it myself with the extra...
Got another gage cluster off of eBay, I needed the inner face plate to freshen up my original gages. I’m going to polish the outer plastic lens some more to get it as nice as possible. The one that came with the newer set is in decent shape and will go into storage in case I ever need it...
Been there with my ‘80, it had OEM undercoating that did the whole floor in. I replaced the entire floor and rear seat section of my car before replacement sheetmetal was available. A Monte Carlo took one for the team, so my car could live.
I know the carb and timing still need to be fine tuned but my friend and I haven’t been able to get together to work on it. Hopefully soon.
The canister was filled with charcoal (carbon) and a diaphragm / screen on the carb port side. The side to the brake booster I couldn’t tell with the bits...
I installed that filter a few weeks ago, that was the second time I took the car out with it. I won’t knock everything Dorman makes but this filter is junk. I’m going to bring it back to Autozone and try and get my money back or store credit. It wasn’t big money, just the point of it.
Took my Cutlass for ride today, maybe 100 miles or so, really nice sunny day but cold. Anyhow, I stopped by my parents place for a visit and when I started the Olds up in the driveway I heard a pop, like a backfire through the carb. The engine started but I found I had no power brakes rolling...
After tearing up the rug in my daughter’s bedroom for the new oak floor we decided an ice cream run was in order. Nice sunny afternoon in the 40’s so we took the ‘80 for a drive on the mainly dry roads but did manage to splash up some dirty water in a few spots along the way. Will have to give...
