    torque converter help

Bang for the buck, look at Freak show performance. Lots of info out here on his stuff and its virtually all positive. Makes a mean little converter for an entry level price.

    This kid is a moron...

Yah, i used to have the same opinion as most..... and when my four eyed stang with gears, long tubes, and a small hit of spray got schooled by a rusty, beat up fart can equipped mid 90's civic hatch I quickly figured out that looks can be deceiving... a simple B18 swapped hatch that's been...

    sbc head swap

With a 4.11 and a decent tire, ie: 275/60/15, it will likely get better mileage then it currently gets, it becomes a matter of efficiency, with a 3.42 gear and a .70 OD its likely lugging along on the highway unless your running a small tire or cruising at 70+MPH. Anytime you can keep the motor...

    sbc head swap

With some tuning on your present set-up you can probably see that. I'm guessing your shifting too high with that cam and hurting your ET. You should be shifting just over 5000. Shift at 4k going into second and 5500 coming out of second. I have a 700r4 and 3.42 gears.. I have about $1500 to...

    sbc head swap

195's might give up a touch on the bottom end, but it does give you room for growth later when you want to step up the cam. In almost every situation the performer RPM is your best choice for anything shy of a full tilt 6500+rpm motor. Don't bother with the air gap version, its more marketing...

    sbc head swap

Yep, lilbowtie is exactly right....for what your going to spend, the performance just won't be there... if you were looking at more cam, then a good set of heads would compliment. Not an E-tec fan myself, there are better choices. Your other option in a set of Pro filer 185's. Cheaper then the...

    Here comes the boost

Thanks for the encouragement, truth be told, the only reason I pushed it outside was to trade it for an early 70's Rag top Caddy I wanted lol. But once I washed it, cleaned the interior and organized all my parts I changed my mind and decided I needed to finish it. Mostly to prove to everyone...

    Here comes the boost

Small update, after getting super sick of looking at it and not touching it for over a month, I finally pushed it outside, washed the dust off it, cleaned my pigsty garage and got back into it. Pushed it inside, started running the fuel lines, finished up the rear, mounted and wired the pumps...

What would be a good cam to run?

I don't understand the question? Maybe its just me tho, if the car just needs to run, and is then being torn down, put any cam you want in it, put a stock cam in it, its not really relivant. If the cam is staying in and your asking for help selecting one then we need more info to make an...

Flat cam and possible upgrades on 83 (non SS) Monte

So first a disclaimer,if a cam is wasted, the motor needs to come apart, period... that metal went somewhere and it will show up when your oil pressure sh*ts the bed. That out of the way, if its a zero cost swap meet parts deal, then look for something in 260h range for a cam, 212/212@050...

Removing steel pipe plug from aluminum intake

That is a super neat post Pete. And a cool plan... the emmision stuff is convaluted in Ontario for sure. I have used that loophole in my last couple cars....some legit, one not so "legit" to be honest. I had read on the drive clean sight about pre 1999 engine swaps. I had an 81 Malibu that had a...

Removing steel pipe plug from aluminum intake

I just did this last week with a well used Victor Jr and a seized plug. Propane torch is your friend.....I turned the torch on, opened a beer and proceeded to heat all around the fitting. Beer was finished, I grabbed the wrench and It came right out like butter.

    Engine Selection

Excellent post.....and on the money. I don't care what anyone says, a mid 13's car is plenty fun and focusing on drivability and reliability while your just learning is good sense.

    Engine Selection

Now that everyone has busted your balls about a SBC in an Olds lol... dollar for dollar, especially where your self stated "inexperience" comes into play, your not going to beat SBC for dollar per HP. My best advice is talk to the local guys, cruise nights, car shows and drag strip. You will be...

    Here comes the boost

Not sure if anyone is still following lol, but today made a box for the pumps. Mounted box, made patch for the missing spare tire well, mounted battery tray and started running the cable. Tommorow is fuel line running day
