BUILD THREAD Street/AutoX/HPDE 78-79 Cutlass build!

Alright, some updates, and a few pictures to match. So I was able to get the motor out of the Envoy (what a job that was). Got it home and cleaned up. LA Totally Awesome degreaser from the dollar tree, a pressure washer and a little bit of scrubbing with a wire brush does wonders! Decided to...

BUILD THREAD Street/AutoX/HPDE 78-79 Cutlass build!

Yeah, Tobin is a great guy to talk to. I highly recommend getting stuff from him. Fit was great and the parts looked great too. I will say, the instructions leave a bit to be desired though.

BUILD THREAD Street/AutoX/HPDE 78-79 Cutlass build!

Alright, I got the third member back from my buddy. I also got some goodies I ordered from KORE 3 for a working parking brake. I got the third member in the rear end and got it hung in the car, brakes installed and tires on to see fit. We officially have a roller!

BUILD THREAD Street/AutoX/HPDE 78-79 Cutlass build!

Quick update on status, but not much to report. Currently waiting for the third member to get back to me. Hopefully I'll have it later this week or weekend. I'm waiting on some other parts for the rear brake setup. Those should be here this week as well. Once I have all that I can get the rear...

BUILD THREAD Street/AutoX/HPDE 78-79 Cutlass build!

Minor update without pics today. I welded the brake hose brackets and a drain plug/bung in the axle housing and got it painted. I also got the rear calipers and brackets cleaned and painted. A good friend of mine helped me out and machined my axles down to fit the rotors properly and another...

BUILD THREAD Street/AutoX/HPDE 78-79 Cutlass build!

Yeah, so the C5 brakes should do fine to get me started with a good pad. I tend to employ a slow in fast out style on track, so I'm easier on brakes that most. My braking is an earlier, more of a gentle squeze to get the entry speed I want and letting the car settle for the turn-in and back on...

BUILD THREAD Street/AutoX/HPDE 78-79 Cutlass build!

Figured I browse this forum quite a bit for info, I might as well post up a build thread as well. This will be a multi-purpose car, driven on the street but will see plenty of AutoX events as well as HPDE track days. Right, now it's a frame that I'm working on getting to a roller. Current...

Astro Steering Shaft Info (Yes more)

Me overthinking it may very well be the case here. I think if they are out of phase the travels in a sort or arc or something. I still may just modify the lock plate in the column anyway. Idk. Just mostly wondering if anyone has noticed any issues making the shaft “theoretically wrong” ha

Astro Steering Shaft Info (Yes more)

Question for your guys that have used the Astro shaft. When you clock these, do you run into any issues. Clocking the upper 90 degrees puts the yokes/joints out of alignment. Does this cause any issue? Its not really correct, the yokes should be the same on both ends of the shaft. What you...

Headers for Big Block Chevrolet (Old post request)

Hello everyone, I'm looking at headers for when I put a big block in my '78 Cutlass and remember reading a post a long time ago about how to fit the cheaper hooker headers from the older A body cars to a g body. Something about cutting the A arm and using solid motor mounts and stuff, but I...

Hi Everyone, New from Ohio with two cutlass'!

There are no harnesses installed because until the 496 is in it's just a mild street car, and the harnesses aren't street legal from what I was told. I will put harnesses in in the future, but for now I'll leave them out.

Hi Everyone, New from Ohio with two cutlass'!

Hello, I'm 19 years old and have been reading stuff on the forum for about a year now and decided it was time to start contributing. My first car was a 79 Cutlass Supreme my dad got me when I was 15 for a project car. We paid 400 for it complete and running. Started out with the 260 Olds (what a...
