I used The summit brand hard line to AN fitting on my factory steel line when I put the electric fuel pump on the Monte Carlo. The pump held a steady 59 psi and I never had a leak. I have one on each end of the factory steel line and still no leaks.
I appreciate that! I guess it really doesn’t matter. I bought parts and worked on it so maybe it’s a post for both threads! 😂
Thanks ck. It’s fine where it’s at.
I only drove the Monte Carlo 2 times in the last 2 years. I don’t know or understand how to tune the Holley sniper system and have never really cared for the way the car drove, started, and performed with the sniper system. Well a couple weeks ago I gutted all that out and put it back to a...
Well said. I think most people forget this and take for granted everything that has been done to achieve the freedom we have and the effort it takes to keep it that way. I’m thankful for the troops that gave us the freedom and the sacrifices others have made to keep the freedom alive. Happy 4th...
Not that I paid attention to the casting numbers but on my 1950 Chevy truck, I retrofitted a g body brake pedal and brake booster to the firewall. The g body master cylinder wouldn’t work beca of the angle the plastic tank is at. The firewall on my truck is basically 90 degrees from the frame. A...
Perfect example: yesterday a friend of mine was putting a rebuilt transmission in his truck. 350 TH. He added fluid to it and when he put the dipstick back in the tip broke off so he had to drop the pan. Only one parts store out of six had one pan gasket. One of the stores asked him if this was...
I try to avoid the parts stores as much as possible. The local Advance closes at 5 every day during the week and noon on Saturday, so I don’t ever go there. Napa has the highest prices in town. I used to buy everything from there but not anymore. The combination of highly increased prices and...
So I decided to get back on this tonight. When I can’t figure something out, I move on to something else for a day or two or in this case, a week. I try to rethink my steps and keep thinking about the issue at hand. I decided to tear the carb down again and inspect everything again. It still...
I just had a newbie with zero posts answer my want add on here for the 83 grill last week. Told me to email another person because he has a nice set of grills. I nev had this happen to me before and thought it was strange. I got to thinking about it and then I threw him to the WOLF. (GP403). 😁
For the timing cover I use a good fel-pro gasket and brush on permatex brand high tack. I also use it on the water pump, fuel pump gaskets and around the water ports on the intake gaskets. I’ve never had one leak. Ultra grey is my go to for RTV. I usually don’t use anything on a transmission...
I never knew, or thought about it, that you could buy a complete rear axle from the dealership. Also, why wouldn’t they have installed this a long time ago to get rid of the economy gears? I guess a 3:73 doesn’t really matter much with the 3.8 in front of it. Or an 8.5 for that matter.
I agree. The base plate is flat and no nicks or scratches. The gasket between the body and baseplate is new and hasn’t squeezed out. I haven’t had time this week to mess with it anymore but I’m hoping to this weekend. I have plenty of other gaskets in my cabinet and parts so I’m going to start...
No spacer and I even reused the carb gasket on the Holley carb that is on it now to rule that out. It runs perfect with this carb on it so I don’t think it has a vacuum leak
