Car running rough.. where to start?

thanks for the advice. I don't remember removing any computer when I removed the old setup and installed the new drive line. I never worked on cars or knew anything before I started this project so I basically just ripped everything out and replaced it.. i'm thinking there was never a computer...

Car running rough.. where to start?

I ended up rolling my car into the garage and I'm getting ready to head off to work. I'll check the dipstick and plugs tomorrow. I'm hoping you're right about the gaskets and it's just something else. I have only gotten about .5 km driving since it was broken in and it has only really ever...

Hey guys just though finish this thread of lf with a few a couple questions. I still can't seem to get my car to run. Installed the fuel regulator and carb spacer as well as a working spare carb and the car seem to run and fire up really good. Today I decided I would test drive it now that I...

Car running rough.. where to start?

Also what is strange is that now and it started and ran fine. I heard that knocking sound but decided I would put it in gear and take it around my block quickly and it seemed to run fine. The knocking sound got quieter but did not go away. What is strange is that when I got home from my 2 min...

Car running rough.. where to start?

I hope it's not washed out rings. If it ends up being something serious it's probably going to be the end of my project. I have thousands and thousands of dollars invested now so that would be a real blow. Keep your fingers crossed for me lol

Car running rough.. where to start?

I checked the oil dipstick and it didn't seem to have any gas on it.. what would be the best way to tell if it got contaminated? The knocking kinda sounds like it's coming from the flywheel or torque converter area

Car running rough.. where to start?

Thanks again for all the tips. I ended up borrowing another Holley carb from a friend and once I installed it today the motor fired up and idled great. Except for now there is a terrible knocking sound coming from inside my motor! I am almost in disbelief because I've spent so much time and...

Car running rough.. where to start?

Yeah I think I have the float bows adjusted good now. At first when you took the sight screw out the leaked quite a bit. I did some research and adjusted both of them to where they would only trickle out a tiny bit of gas when the site plug is removed. I'm starting to think I may be better off...

Car running rough.. where to start?

So I got right back at it today hoping to install that regulator and hit the open road. Instead I installed it to find that my issue was the exact same. I will only run when I have my foot on the pedal. I did notice that when I removed the fuel line after the filter it was still a little bit of...

Car running rough.. where to start?

Well I got my helicoil in today and put the carb and linkages back on went tried to fire it up.. unfortunetely it ran the exact same as it did when this all started. It was hard to start and wouldn't stay running unless I really hit the gas. I decided I would try to adjust my float bowls to...

Car running rough.. where to start?

thanks for the solid advise, I always appreciate it. I am 99% sure I have it all figured out now and will be back on the road tomorrow. I installed the inline fuel filters and new pressure gauge and i also filled the tank with good gas to dilute any bad gas that may be in there still. I also...

Car running rough.. where to start?

Well it bought it like a year and a bit ago so I'm pretty sure they wont let me return it. I may still inquire though because you never know.. I've purchased a fair amount off them in the past. I also want to get this thing going tomorrow so I can get to driving it before it goes into storage...

Car running rough.. where to start?

Thanks for the tips, I appreciate it. Tomorrow I am heading off to the parts store to grab 2 inline fuel filters, one before the fuel pump and one after. I really wish I had thought of doing that before but I guess better late than never. I still dont understand why the gas was such an orange...
