    The crappy 60' was on slicks too, it would just bog then pick up, I think my q jet was just not tuned at all right, the secondary air flap was opening too quick or something. Just with the edelbrock it's a world of difference how much more powerful it feels, I imagine with a well tuned q jet it...

    The carb I just pulled of was actually a 1980 800 q-jet, it was a chevy one though I believe with the fuel inlet facing left. I did adjust the apt screw, rebuilt, and richer secondary rods. It was just so worn out, put the edelbrock on there just to be able to drive It. I'll have to look into...

    Right, forgot the bigger servo in my post, pretty weak without that. So it's looking like best for the money is the tko 600/ 3.73 or 3.55 gears. As for the governor though, id use a hurst ratchet like with the th350 so id just manually hold it to desired points. Thanks to all who posted so far...

    I had a tuned q jet 800 myself, the day before the track I went to tighten the secondary air flap spring and it broke of course, so I put a return spring on the secondaries, as a band aid, just to make a few passes, the edelbrock is much more responsive. I haven't had a chance to really rev it...
