    Another header gasket thread !

Remflex gaskets are the best I've used so far. However I had some cheap gaskets on mine and never had an issue. Never had any luck with the copper gaskets. They always leaked.

    fuel injection conversion

For the fuel pump relay trigger you just need to provide a switched 12v to b the wire that would typically connect to the ecm. I have mine wired this way currently. Downside is that anytime you turn the key to the run position the fuel pump will run continuously. I'll be installing one of these...

1987 Olds Pro-touring project build - Now with paint

Yeah, I read that after I bought the dumb thing. Fell for their marketing. However I've had two efi setups on this car and both have run the exact same. The first was the Aceel Thruster system that was professionally tuned on a chassis dyno. Ran great that day. Loaded it on the trailer, took the...

Vacuum is around 8" at idle. 15" at cruise. It could probably stand to be tuned a bit more. We had it up to 11" with the EFI years ago.

I won't know that for a while. I have a really bad vibration happening around 70-80mph or 65mph in 6th gear. I think I'm hitting the 1/2 critical speed of the drives haft and it's causin a vibration. If I shift from 6th to 5th it will get better. Taking it to a chassis shop later in the month to...

1987 Olds Pro-touring project build - Now with paint

Been driving the car for a few days now. Never did figure the EFI out. Wouldn't fire at all after I put everything back together so I said screw it. Installed an 850 DP holley and an old worn out HEI and the car fired right up. Runs great. Go figure. Pictures from my Sunday cruise:

No I sold that shortly after buying the Accel Thruster setup. The Megasquirt worked okay but I remember having the same issues with it that I've had with the Accel and now the FAST setup. The O2 was always reading as if the engine was running lean but it appeared to be the exact opposite. I'm...

The spoiler is from a Monte Carlo SS. I believe they had two different styles and this is the one that lays flatter than the other. It's had the ends of the spoiler removed to match the trunk lid. Otherwise the ends stick out over the tailights. The

Sorry I haven't been on here in a good long while. I've been fighting the fuel injection system I have for a long time now. 2 days after it was on the dyno a few years ago it stopped running right. I've had the ECU and wide band controller looked over by Accel a few times and it seems like every...

    FE3X CLONE - November 2015's G-Body of the Month

Haha thanks. That Mustang is my brother's and it would put up a good fight. Last time it was at the track it ran a 12.1@112mph or thereabouts. In the video I had the car running on the 750cfm carb from my '81. Timing was still being controlled by the ECM but I've been trying to track down severe...

    FE3X CLONE - November 2015's G-Body of the Month

Thanks everyone! Next year should be fun as it hopefully will be the first time I'll have it all together and running well enough for some track time. :) Video from late summer when I was diagnosing problems with the EFI:

    duel exhaust

It's likely not because they can't do the work but that they don't want to for fear of getting caught. If you are required to go through emissions testing then having dual exhaust is a big no-no even if you add a second catalytic converter. It would still be considered illegal. Your best bet is...

If I remember right the fronts have 5.125" back spacing and the rears are 5.5". I still had to add 1/2" spacers to clear the front brake calipers.

1987 Olds Pro-touring project build - Now with paint

Finally got the new front lower control arms installed, 14" brakes and wheels and tires mounted. Had everything ready to go for months but was waiting on wheels/tires. Of course I was so excited to get the car down off the jack stands to check out the new wheels I forgot that I had run the...

    Brake upgrade question

Warren, curious if you had any interference issues between the caliper and the brake hose bracket attached to the frame? I've been working on installing this same 14" C5 hybrid brake setup and just noticed today that at full steering lock the calipers are going to hit. In fact it appears the...

I used the C5 abutments and calipers. I believe they are for the base model vette. I just bought a bracket from www.flynbye.com that adapts the C5 caliper and abutment to the later model 14" rotor. I'll eventually upgrade to a set of 6 piston Wilwood brakes but this will do for now.

I hope to hit a few shows but who knows. Once I get all the wheels on and the car aligned I could at least start driving it some. Melvin, I'm saving the wheels and tires for a friend. Hope to use them as partial payment for some more paint work on the car.

Yeah, I'll definitely need to watch the potholes and remember not to drive the car like I do my truck. :) It'll be tight going much taller but I might give it a try later on. These are 255/30r20's up front which if I remember correctly are 26" tall. I could try a 255/35r20 which would be 27"...
