I've got a factory 4 speed 78 Monte that now sports a Super T-10. The original saginaw 4 speed had a funky adapter plate that positioned the shifter to where it wouldn't hit the trans tunnel. I never really gave the adapter plate much thought though now realize it was likely to keep the shift...
Thats awesome man! That looks so cool, and really somewhat natural. Nice job... as for overheating, I've never really had a problem without an air dam. I run a ZZ3 crate motor and when I first put it in it would go to about 225 degrees in traffic though I fixed that with a 160 degree...
Agreed, the center bolt head exhaust ports are no different unless they're D port style off the L89 Vette motor of the late '80's, and most the time the standard headers will still fit. Good luck.
A definite no on the '78, I'm pretty sure yes on the '79. They looked really dorky, just a thin black slab of plastic that didn't look like it belong. I've had my '78 since it was new and it never had one. Can't wait to see the pics of your custom Mont Camino. I've seen one with a Pontiac...
