Would a .060 chevy motor be a bad idea for a street motor? Selling my race car without the motor and I'm thinking about using it in a street car. I'd prefer not to use an old racing motor, but since I have it, and it makes good power.... The motor is stock bottom end, has a Comp cam (can't rem the specs, have them written down somewhere) has camelhump heads, Vic Jr intake and right now a 4412 carb. Raced the motor for several years, overhauled it every year. Any thoughts?

yeh why not? the only reason I wouldnt buy a motor with 60 over is because once its done, its done... but if you already have it and it runs, throw it in... youll just have to build another block if you have if it quits on ya

I have an .060 small block that I used in my daily driver for years and I never had any problems with it. It actually started out as an AC Delco long block that I upgraded with aluminum heads and a larger cam. No issues. I say go for it.

Think I will! Is it true .060s run a little hotter? I think I'll put it in a car and build up another for when she goes. I've raced this motor off and on since '03. Ole faithful!

Thanks for the replies guys.

Mine runs cool but my cooling system is a bit different. Meziere electric water pump (works great on a street car), 160 degree stat, stock F-body radiator, dual electric fans.
