Just wondering if these headers are decent and will fit. My passenger side exhaust manifold from the original motor seems a bit too close for comfort and I cant find a dual exhaust 350 rocket manifold without buying the set for 5-600 bucks. So I am considering headers, as much as I dont want them, really dont have much choice at this point.
Also wondering if the 307 Gbody manifolds will work with a 350?
Ive got those on my engine. Its kind of a pain to get the oil filter off as the header is directly below it, but you get used to it. I'm using a high torque starter and it clears that fine...I also have a spare set sitting on my mailbox, which I found out after I bought a them off ebay for cheap and the guy didn't know what they fit.
They are the worst fitting headers available. Anyone who has a set that actually fit are considered lucky. They won't last long, have poor ground clearance, and have issues with leaking. Most of them don't even aim straight back like they should. Anyone who owns a high quality ( $$$ ) set of headers will attest to how much better they fit ( and perform ) compared to any of the off the shelf cheapo's headers like Flowtech.
There's a reason why they're so cheap....

How is this possible? All factory exhaust manifolds are a perfect factory fit. They will ALWAYS fit better than any header. What's too close for comfort?

There are no factory dual exhaust manifolds for an Olds small block unless you count the rare and hard to find #12 which is the passenger side manifold found on late 70's early 80's Toronado's. Thornton makes an aftermarket dual exhaust set which are a bit better than stock. To run true duals off of SBO manifolds requires you to cap off the inlet on the passenger side manifold like they did from the factory back in the day.
Where are you findind dual exhaust SBO manifolds for $500-600?

Yes, just don't use the weird 'tubular' style ones that came on most of the 7A headed 307's because they are even more restrictive than the standard manifolds.
Guess I am one of the lucky ones. Put them in from the bottom. Zero clearance issues. Everything seals up fine with zero leaks or issues. Been on the car around 3 years now, only issue is they are rusty but I didn't want to pop the cash for the coated ones. Great headers for the price IMO
I have these on my 305 Engine flowtech header BIG31104-FLT i just installed yesterday and had no problems what so ever.....didnt need to remover the starter or oil filter....they went right in....passanger side goes in from top and driver side goes in from below....check them out...u should go with these....
Thanks for the replies.... Im gonna sleep on it. But Im leaning towards the headers for now...and if I have issues...well, Ill sell em on ebay.. Really wish the passenger side manifold wasnt so close to the firewall/trans tunnel but Im just not comfortable with it the way it is. Just curious if anybody here with a 350 sbo w/stock manifolds having any fitment issues or hot floorboards on the passenger side?

There are absolutely NO fitment issues with factory manifolds on either side. They were designed to fit like a glove in millions of cars and they do every time. If your have ANY sort of fitment issues with your passenger side manifold, it can only be due to a problem elsewhere, like you don't have the engine mounted correctly or something, and if that's the case, those cheapo headers will fit even worse if at all.
Seriously, getting a set of headers because a manifold doesn't fit right is just silly. You need to find out WHY your manifold doesn't fit well. I assure you it ain't the fault of the engineers who designed the manifolds!
Give us some pics of this crazy manifold situation. What manifold are you running anyway? The #4?
