Are there any problems installing the diamond spoke firebird/trans am/ gnx wheels on my 79 gp? I keep seeing them listed as to separate offsets

IF the Firebird rims are the same as the comparable year IROC rims, then there is a difference in offset from front to rear. I bought a set of IROC 16" X 8" rims to use on my '84 Monte, and I found that there is 13/16" difference in the offset from the front rims to the rear rims. The rear rims will not fit the A/G body without spacers. I had spacers & extra long wheel studs made up for my car to run the front & rear rims on it. Then several years later, I found a second set of IROC rims, so I picked them up. I took the long studs & spacers off the car, put the stock studs back in, and used the 4 front rims that I had, and sold the 4 rear rims. If you're looking at buying the Firebird rims, look at the back side of the rim first. If there is a difference in offset, the rims should be marked front and rear on the back side of the rim. Hope this helps.

Yeah, you can use 4 fronts, but not the rears. Interestingly, the rears may work up front on a car with the B body spindle conversion as it kicks the wheels outward by 1/2 to 1 in ( don't remember the actual figure).

I will try and get a better answer for you.I had a customer stop by 2 weeks ago with those rims on the car. They did have the different offset also.
I will try and follow up next week.

x2 ^^^ beware when buying these rims as people will buy 2 sets to get what they want ( 4 fronts ) then try to sell the 4 rears.

Talked to my customer,he put in a custom rear so any info I could give is useless.
Oh well,I tried.

anyone knows the wheels backspacing on these...
i plan to put a b body diff on my g body at 4.0" length difference it might help to have a b/s of 5.5"
