Wanting to put some 17''s on my car but don't know which to order. Eventually I will put 12'' discs on the front and i;m not sure if that will push out the wheel. But is this the correct backspacing I want for my '86 regal? 4''' in the front and 4'' in the rear? I don't want the wheels to sit too far inward, but I don't want to rub. thinking coys c5 gun metal. I can also get 4.5'' BS which will be best?

I've found 4" works best in the rear but in the front, at least on an '87 Cutlass, they will rub the inner fender on large dips in the road. 4.5" would be better up front but then you might start getting into the tire hitting the swaybar at full lock.

I have 17x8 with 4" BS and 255/45/17 tires all around, and I have no rubbing. My rims MB Wheels Old School and look to be pretty much exactly the same as the Coys C5 wheels, though mine are chrome 8)

I am very happy with them as is, though I do wish the back tires stuck out another 1/5" or so.

So far I love these wheels, and the chrome is finished very nice. As far as lowered goes, the back would be fine for sure, the front though I don't know. I do plan to lower mine 2 or 3 inches though either this summer or next summer.

With stock springs and shocks they'll rub at anything lower than stock height. Maybe not all the time.

However the Regal's have different wheel wells than a Cutlass which might help you.

I put my 17x8" Hopsters with 245/45ZR17 tires on my car and another Cutlass and both rubbed in the front. Both had stock shocks/springs.
The issue only comes up in situations where you go down a hill and then it goes back up very abruptly. It was really bad with the chrome wheel well molding because the tire caught that and tried to jerk the steering wheel out of my hands. Luckily it didn't cut the tire but did bend the chrome trim.
After pulling the chrome trim off, it wasn't such a violent reaction when it did hit the inner fender from that point forward. Once I swapped in the Bilstein shocks, I don't know that I ever really had the problem show up again.

I just found a set of torque thrusts for a good deal on craigslist I might pick up. I'll throw them on and take a few pics to see how they fit. I already have bilsteins so I should be alright there, and I do have stiffer springs but they are eibach lowering springs and beltech drop spindles. Won't be driveable for a while tho 😢
