I will use this thread to document the reassembly of the 1970 Cutlass S I bought from a buddy two years ago (in my sig). It's starting to get real with some new parts to put the 403 back together.

Full Fel-Pro gasket set (I know, throw half of it away)

Cylinder is good enough for a hone and new rings (still waiting on the Hastings one cyl ring pack). I will clean everything thoroughly and reassemble.
403 with #6 heads (head bolt holes enlarged), JM-20-22 cam, 1-3/4" primary headers, Performer intake and worked Q-Jet carb (Dean-o). Should be decent in the '70.

I hope to get the engine back together in a coupla weekends (as soon as I get the ring pack).

How far down in the cylinders are those pistons? You definitely got lucky on just one piston seizing. Did the hone remove all the rust marks? Just coat the cork with RTV and let it sit before assembly. I wish Felpro would include the heavy duty pan gaskets at least with these sets.
