Yeah the way you tell if a mopar is from 68' is by looking at the lights. Round side marker lights and round tail lights is normally a dead give a way for a 68 mopar. Love that challenger btw both of them are really clean. For an 18 year old, I guess I kinda struck gold on my first try lol. BTW got the roadrunner going this afternoon. It wouldn't start cause it had some black crud on the pos. battery post, but once I cleaned that off she fired right up. Sounds like the whole motor is stock down to the cam and everything. The only thing that leaves me scratching my head is that my high performance manifolds from the factory have a 69' date coding stamped in them. Dad's buddy pointed it out. But other than that, the car runs like a champ considering it sat for a couple years and is 40 years old lol. 😀 Score one for the underdog 383

Update

HELL YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We got it going today. We tried the other day and it wouldn't start. I told him the coil was no good, I checked the Ohms on it any it was WAY off. So he put a new $88.00 coil in it and NOTHING!!! So I started looking around again and told him the ignition module has some corrosion on the back and kind of white powdery, plus it was leaking. So he picked up a new one, checked for spark and we had it. Tried to start it, nothing.

Now we are getting pissed. We switched all the wires over one spot on the cap because the rotor was off by that much, apparently the book must be an error because he barely turned the key a second and VROOOOOOMMMMM!!!

Tell ya what, when you have your head next to an engine in a closed garage with open headers it will probably scare the crap out of ya like it did to me. Anyway we got the timing pretty good and let it run for a bit, chucked a few revs LOUD,lol. The tach, temp, fuel gauges are not working.. that will be another day. We might have to rip out the dash again but the windshield is out so that is easy. Other than that all he needs is the windows put in, exhaust, rims and tires and the car is done!!!!
