The housing can be made to work.
There are mount kits available $100-130.

I would get the deluxe kit for the lower mounts with multiple holes for the money, you plan on a big block.
You can cut the lower mounts off of your housing and carefully open of the axle area to match the diameter of the 9 inch axle tube. Fab up something for the top. Save your spring cups/mounts.
Around here, the current rate to re-spline an axles is like $100-150. To cut them down, re-spline and weld up the flange and re-drill to car or whatever bolt pattern and press on new bearings ($30 each side with a seal) that you supply is $100 each...$70 less than brand new axles and bearings or $10 less than re-splined axles with new bearings.
Most will end up with different length axles on each side, big housing, has to fit under the car and to avoid really odd driveshaft angles.
New axles are around $270-300 a set, whatever length you want, with most spline counts, that will be the wheel bolt pattern you want and the correct flange offset to match aftermarket brakes. They will also have new bearings pressed in place. The truck should have 31 spline axles, you should pull one out and confirm as they could be 28 spline.
There is not a cheap swap for a rear for a G-body. Trust me, I wish there was.
Housing and axles for $745 or housing for $365:

Speedway has the 9 inch housing for $459
The only other thing close is either a 64-72 A-body Chevelle 10 or 12 bolt with a kit to correct the control arm geometry OR a Fox body Ford 8.8 with similar kit to correct the geometry they range in price and how effective they are from $150-$500. Both will require unique offset wheels and the Ford will have its own wheel pattern.
