So fellas I need some help.. I’ve got a 1978 Buick Regal that I’m working on putting a 383 stroker in.. slowly trying to teach myself.. but now I’m stuck on what to do with rear end.. I want posi rear end but don’t know do I switch out the guts of the rear end that originally came with the car or do I look for something off a donor car? How do I know what will fit? Anybody who’s currently playing with Regals I’ll take all the advice I can get. I’ve snatched the old 3.8 out and I’ve got a 1991 gmc with a 5.7 that I’m pulling the motor from. Thank you

People always parting out Monte SS
Those had a 3.73 7.625 rear.

Or get a posi carrier from an s10 or third gen f body.

Or spend $1500 on a GN 8.5 or new 9" Ford or 12 bolt from quickperformance or similar.

The Quick Performance 9 is the best way to go. I got mine for my 383. Just tell them what rear brakes you want to use and they’ll set it up for you. 8.5s are getting real hard to find and getting pricy. 12 bolts COSTS $$$$$ a 7.5 won’t last long behind much power.
