Anybody know where I can get a black dash in excellent condition for my 1978. I have tried just dashes for a revamp but 1400. is way to steep. Any other places that I can either get a cheeper revamp of replacement.

I had one of those dash covers on it. Took it off, does'nt fit right and it looks just like that, a cover.

Man I hate to hear that.I really had my hopes up that the dash covers worked well :|

I tell you what sucks. My Dad about 15 years ago took out a prestine dash out of a friends wrecked 78 Malibu wagon. He had it sitting in the dry cool basement of his house.Well about 2006, two years before he passed,he wen to go get it and discovered someone had knocked it off the table he had it on,or dropped something on it :puke: nearly broke the drivers side end off !

So he never tried to use it.
I was looking at it the other day,and the dash is still perfect, besides the left side .I don't think I can even try to use it.The end almost fell off when I picked it up.
I think the guys who put his new central heat/air in about 9 years ago dropped something on it.Probably my 4-speed that was going in my 79' Bu that they stole, what pecker heads :x .

You must have had a shitty dash cover........or it was never installed right....There are plenty of guys on here that have dash caps and love them...I will be buying mine from here : http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1985-Mon ... ccessories

Guess it is possible that it was installed wrong, but all it does is fit over the existing dash, glued on. Was on car before I purchased it. Mine was bubbling in the middle by the dash vents from the heat of the sun, and at the ends of each side you could push it in as it was seperating from the actual dash. Again, still looking for a excellent condition or cheaper recover job.
