In 1979 did the malibu have two different tail light assembly. I just purchased a set on ebay and they came as a split square type lens my car has a square lens any information on this would be appreciated thax.

Post a pic of what you have. '78 taillights are a style(type) of their own. I think '79 taillights are only one type which may or may not be shared with the '80 style. If I'm not mistake, '81+ may also be a different style.
