Ok.... something broke in the lock on my trunk and now it won't open... how do i get the trunk open without having to tear the back seat out?? If I do have to go about pulling the back seat how do I go about that on this car without tearing it up?
Thanks,
Chris

feel under the lock at the bottom of the trunk lid right under the lock there will be a rivit. pop it out with a flathead and then the thing the rivit is holding in will come off, now pull the whole lock out and use a long flathead there will be a perfect spot to put the flathead in and turn.

these cars are too easy to brake into ur trunk, i kno alota detroit boys lol

that makes me love my car that much more because finding one without a blown out lock is impossible

just take ur time and you can replace it with one for autozone for like 10 bucks just dont start breaking sh*t you gotta wiggle it out sometimes

Thanks.... the lock and tumbler are frozen or jammed and have been removed. The car is in rough shape... not sure if I can even use it. The tumbler just kinda fell out when I pulled the cover off.... all I can feel in there is what feels like a thin metal shim.... but nothing to pull or push to release the latch. Any ideas?? Odd how I can build complete performance motors but getting a trunk open stumps me..... ridiculous

This is not the correct trunk lock picture, but you will get the idea. Once you have the key cylinder out, there should be a long rod attached to the cylinder (the rectangular part between the lock and the latch in the picture). Basically you need a flat screwdriver, and insert it into the lock where they key cylilnder lock rod came out of. Turn the screwdriver a 1/4 turn, and you are in 🙂

If that doesn't work, take out the back seat (unscrew the seatbelts to take out the upper part) and use a long extension to unbolt the 3 bolts holding the trunklatch on.
