hi i have an 1987 buick regal limited and the 2.53 gears behind my oldmobile 307 engine. so i found a 1983 buick t-type getting parted out on cl. what i want to know is if it will be a direct swap into my car. the only information i could find was that in wiki it saws it has 3.52 gears in a 7.5. so it should be a direct swap can anybody shed any light thanks.

It should be a direct swap except that the driveshaft will need to be shortened 1". That's assuming that the replacement rear is an original 8.5 out of a T-Type..

Not an 8.5 in an '83. '84-87 TR and Hurst/Olds/442 had the 8.5 ten bolt.

I overlooked the year of the car being parted out. You're right, it would have been a 7.5...if in fact it was the original rear to the car.
