I have a 84 cutlass I'm trying to block off my power steering from the steering box, where the 2 fittings go side by side. I don't have a power steering pump yet and the open holes are keeping me from driving it as I just put my sbc 350 in it last week. When I sold my 307 I left the ps pump and pressure line on the motor so I will have to eventually buy all new lines and pump.

All I'm wondering is the thread pitch to block off the two holes in my power steering box to drive it temperarely. I had the fitting closest to the driver side so I took it out to see if it'll fit in the other hole to block it off but it was too small so I do know they are different size holes.
Thanks everyone, sorry if this doesn't make since I have to hurry as I write this, I am at work lol.

On my '85, the holes were 14mm and 16mm saginaw fittings. This might give you a start.

Sir, that is very dangerous. I would recommend a manual steering box. I have several for sale. I know that blocking the lines is not a good idea but did not realize how dangerous it could be. I sold a box to a kid last summer that had done the same thing. About 6 month later , it destroyed his steering sector shaft and was lucky he didn't crash.. Hope this helps, timo

Hack jobs seem to be the norm now-a-days... I've read quite a few of them lately with yanking bumpers, emissions equipment, skyjacking rides on 26's with stock ball joints etc...
Modifications without doing the research could end someone's life.
Cars are not toys as we like to think... there is a lot of mass behind them, anyone that's been in an accident can attest, I've been in quite a few myself.

Just re-read my post and let me be clear. He ran a plugged power steering box for about 6 months and tore the shaft up . He bought a manual box and jeep shaft to fix it. Sorry if I confused anyone...timo
