Does anyone know the best aftermarket intake and carb setup for an 84 ss? I have ditched the emissions and am planing on a msd as well. I would like to go the edelbrock route if anyone has part numbers it would be a big help thanks

it depends on the engine/drivetrain and usage.

Since it seems like you are running the stock 305, I would say an Edelbrock performer intake and 600 cfm performer carb. You can easily swap it onto a pre 87 350 later on also. Don't expect to turn the 305 into a rocket ship but it is good pre planning and gives great drivability.

Greg, i might still have my old edelbrock performer intake, but it is painted blue. That is if i can find it and didn't give it to someone else already. What you doin with that car?

It's the wifes car so she dont want it real fast or loud!!!!! i just want to get rid of that junk quadrajet carb. I dont need emissions any more so i just want an aftermarket non emissions intake and carb setup for a stock 305. i will also be installing an msd HEI distributor and ignition box

then just get the basic performer intake and a non-computer controlled q-jet from a late 70/early 80's truck or car.
q-jets are actually very good carbs, they have great part throttle response and fuel mileage while producing just as much power as any other street carb.

On my 305 I ran the performer rpm intake with a 500 carb and a 477/480 lift cam edelbrock valve springs stock converter vac adv dist and msd 6al seemed to work well
