Hello everyone. I am new on the G Body Forum and love it so far. I am restoring my 1984 Hurst/Olds and trying to turn it into a modern day version of what GM would build if they made this car today. I am having a very hard time finding a solution for the chrome pieces on the sides of the front bucket seats. Does anyone know where or who makes or sells these??? Thanks !

Welcome to the site, glad your enjoying your stay. Im not sure if anybody makes those chrome pieces you are looking for, but your best bet is to find someone local that is selling them or find them on ebay if your open to shipping and not seeing them in person. Im trying to find chrome exterior trim pieces but had no luck finding parts that were in better condition than mine. They do make a chrome paint that i have tried but i just looked like silver, but i have been told if your using the paint that you lay a silver base, then two very light coats of the chrome, and then too heavy coats it looks like chrome. I have yet to try it this way so im sure if it works....just some ideas of an alternative to buying new parts.

Oh and just for future reference try to post in the correct Topic... I moved this to the "New Users" section for you, its no biggie

eBAy is you friend or 1 of the Gbody sites. I check every olds being parted for them . I just found some myself . As easy as r to break think be something to redo . But chrome is $$$ .

Seems like ebay is my best option here. I appreciate the feedback guys. My previous experience with painting chrome on plastic has never had a happy ending. I'm sure its partially my fault, but I think I am going to keep looking for a new piece.

ps...what do you mean by posting under the correct Topic? This is a new forum for me. Thanks again for helping out the new guy!

Welcome!
Unfortunately, nobody makes new pieces for the bucket seats... and since they break so easily, be prepared to pay a lot for some un-broken originals...

you see at the where is says "forum" next to "home"? Well if you click on that it will take you to the board index, and on the board index are all the individual forum boards like general discussion, new users, for sale, ect. ect. it helps if you post in the related board this way it is easy to go back and find later, plus it helps keep the forum as organized as possible

ps...me painting the chrome didnt work out either because when you use it, what ever you are painting has to be super clean or the paint doesn't lay right and then it runs an leaves streaks :blam: ....good luck finding the parts you need and check the for sale section every now and then to see if anyone is parting out or has them for sale.
