hey guys this is my second g body i just purchased this 1985 buick regal and have a 454 tbi that i going to turn into a carburated 454 and was wanting to know how hard is it to put the 454 in the 85 regal? please repond anyoone 😀

it shouldnt be that hard if ya got the right motor mounts, should be about the same as putting the 454 in the monte.

Not too hard at all. You will have to change out your motor mounts and the thing till drop right in. To change the fuel delivery to a carburetor you will need a carburetor, an intake manifold and a standard HEI distributor. You will also have to change your transmission with a Chevy bolt pattern bellhousing.
And the exhaust system will obviously have to be customized.

hey arron was your 350 in the 83 pretty successful and if so how much did it cost

It was super easy. When I got the car it had a Buick 350 in it and I pulled that out, sold it, and got a '73 C10 and pulled the engine and trans and dropped it right in my Regal. I bought the frame side motor mounts for an '83 Monte Carlo 305 car and it bolted right up with no issues. The only issues I ran into was the drivers side header had to come in from the bottom side and my driveshaft had to be shortened because the truck transmission was a long tailshaft.
If I had to estimate, I would say I have just over $2000 into the entire drivetrain (it helps having my discounts at work) 8)

I currently have a shortblock being done up at our machine shop, which I include that work in that $2000. It is just a standard bottom end rebuild with .030" over flattop 4-valve relief hyper pistons.

The 350 shortblock that I remove from the Regal (when I put he rebuilt one in) is going to be my first drag engine. I will be doing a stroker with forged domed pistons to achieve about 12:1 compression and will be running on alcohol. I haven't decided on which heads to run with this combo. I am looking to get at least 600hp at the crank from this engine and it will be going in a rear engine dragster. I was thinking of running a 4/7 swap camshaft (definitely .600+ lift) I am super excited to build a drag car. I have always thought rear engine dragsters were awesome to watch race. I will start a thread on this when I start the engine build 😀
