I bought a my 1985 Pontiac Grand Prix LE back in 09. This car is something special. It is the two tone
black and gold paint scheme, aluminum turbo finned wheels, pw, pl, power moonroof, cruise, this is a fully loaded car. ( I will post pics once I have a decent camera)

I hit the jackpot on this car, it came with the build sheet and I just recently searched all the rpo codes.

My question to you fellow car guys is
how rare is it for a 1985 pontiac grand prix Le (Non 2+2) to have the 3.08 rear ratio?

GU4- AXLE REAR, 3.08 RATIO
G92- AXLE REAR RATIO, PERFORMANCE
MW9-4 speed auto overdrive (THM 200 4R)

Also it has the F41-SUSPENSION SYSTEM, FRT, RR, FIRM RIDE, HANDLING

Also some codes included have me wondering if this was a special run car.

A2A-FLEET SALES (CANADA) CANADIAN PROCESSING CODE 1

A2B-FLEET SALES (CANADA) CANADIAN PROCESSING CODE 2

A2C-FLEET SALES (CANADA) CANADIAN PROCESSING CODE 3

WS1-SALES PROGRAM-#1

W70-MODEL CONVERSION ROYALE ( RPO definition in question)

Also I have searched endlessly for the definition to find what these codes mean
8TU-

9TU-

629-

60P-

P37-

Any information anyone has on this subject would be duly appreciated.

You have a twin to my car, other than mine had a 2.41 axle. Otherwise they are probably identical - black/gold, moonroof, turbo-finned wheels, TH200R4, F41. I'm not sure how "rare" the 3.08 axle is, but it certainly isn't as common as the 2.41.

Code W70, is "Sport Package - Two Tone". This is the two tone paint with the graduated stripes down the belt-line. You car should have color codes 58L and 19U to go with it - light chestnut lower, black upper. There was another two-tone scheme which split the color at the top of the fender with no graduated stripes - this would have been code D84.

Code WS1 was the "Pontiac Dollars Plus" marketing package. It resulted in a $150 credit for ordering certain options together.

60P is the color code for the turbo-finned wheels (light chestnut). If they were silver, code 15P.

8TU and 9TU are the codes for your rear springs

629 - color keyed seat belts, camel

P37 - is the code for the option grouping that triggers the WS1 discount.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for completing my rpo list.

And it does sound like we have twins. Though mine has the striping.

finding out how many non 2+2's came with 3.08 is going to be a hard task. I have found that there isn't
as much info out on the net for 80's cars.

you are correct 3.08's aren't very common for these cars. They were probably custom ordered by the original owner, nice find!
